Count where you are. Salem has its own leaderboards, and now so do the Northeast, Southeast, Central, Northwest and Southwest. The app asks once, the first time you open it, and you can change it in Settings whenever you move. New Apple Watch app. Tap the hat on your wrist and it counts on your leaderboard, even with your phone in your bag — taps wait on the watch and go over when it is back in range. There is a Smart Stack widget too, so you can count a hat without opening anything. Your badges and your best day span every location, so nothing you have earned is left behind when you count somewhere new.

The witch has a voice. Tap a hat and she answers — eighteen recorded lines, and never the same one twice in a row. She's silent until you say otherwise: switch her on under Settings in the menu. She respects the side switch and mixes with your music, so nothing you're listening to stops. Badges for counting hats, on two ladders to climb: your best day in Salem, and your running total for the year — from Sharp Eye at 10 hats in a day to Salem Legend at 2,500 for the year. Find them on the new Badges screen in the menu, alongside your place-visit badges. Earn one and the witch hat spins to celebrate. Your best day is saved now, so a day badge stays earned after midnight. Pull down on the home screen to refresh the leaderboard, which also shows how many players are on it.
