zEdit — The Fully Accessible Video and Audio Editor Built for Blind Users
zEdit is the world's first fully accessible video and audio editing app, designed from the ground up for blind and low-vision users. Most media editing tools rely on visual, drag-and-drop interfaces — making them nearly impossible to use with a screen reader. zEdit solves this at its core: every screen, every button, and every gesture is designed to work flawlessly with VoiceOver. You can now edit your videos and audio recordings completely independently, without needing anyone else's help.
ACCESSIBILITY COMES FIRST
In zEdit, accessibility isn't a feature added later — it's the foundation of the app. It has been tested with VoiceOver at every stage of development.
- Flawless VoiceOver compatibility: Every interface element has a meaningful label, hint, and correct reading order. No button is ever announced as an "unlabeled button."
- VoiceOver-safe loading overlay: While operations are running, screen reader focus is never lost or thrown to the wrong place; the app tells you out loud what is happening at each step.
- Logical navigation order: Screens can be explored from top to bottom by touch, and elements appear in the order you expect.
- Spoken feedback: You receive clear announcements when actions like saving, exporting, or trimming are complete.
- High contrast and large touch targets: For low-vision users, interface elements are easy to distinguish and comfortable to tap.
VIDEO EDITING FEATURES
- Trim and cut videos: Precisely set start and end points to remove the parts you don't want.
- Merge multiple clips: Combine separate video pieces into one seamless video.
- Delete and reorder sections: Remove pieces from the middle of a video or change their order.
- Adjust the sound: Change the level of the video's audio, mute it entirely, or add new audio.
- Extract audio from video: Save a video's audio track as a separate file.
AUDIO EDITING FEATURES
- Trim and merge recordings: Bring audio files to the length you want and combine pieces.
- Volume control: Adjust the loudness of your recordings.
- Add music or other audio: Layer multiple audio sources on top of one another.
- Format conversion: Export your audio files in common formats.
EXPORTING AND SHARING
- Optimized export: The export engine has been refined for speed and quality, so your projects are saved quickly and at high quality.
- Quality options: Choose the balance between file size and quality that suits you.
- Easy sharing: Send your finished projects directly to other apps or save them to your device.
MULTILINGUAL SUPPORT
zEdit offers full support in six languages. You can use the app in your own native language and hear all menus and VoiceOver announcements in your language.
WHY zEdit?
What a blind user needs is not an app that is merely "said to be accessible," but a tool that has truly been hand-tested with every detail considered. That is exactly what zEdit is. It is an app built by a blind developer for blind users. That is why it works in practice, not just in theory.
Media editing is now everyone's right. With zEdit, your videos and audio are fully under your control.

For the first time I was able to edit my own videos and do adjustments to what I want and don’t want without wasting my time playing around with other inaccessible abs or half other people helped me edit. This app 100% perfect but this is a great start!
Game Changer

A post about this app showed up on my Facebook feed yesterday, so I decided to try it out. After trying several video editing tools for the past few months, I was about to give up on finding something better and I was ready to settle for less. This changed my mind. I’ve been looking for an accessible tool to create my music covers for YouTube. I needed a way to merge my audio with a visual background to make my videos, and also potentially turn them into lyric videos. With this app, it is possible. Of course, there could always be improvements, such as more accurate speech to text transcriptions and more video resolution options. I believe for YouTube videos, the resolution needs to be 720p, 1080p, etc. Overall, I’m very happy with the app’s performance and really appreciate the VoiceOver hints when I’m not sure how to do something. Looking forward to testing out new features in the future. This is a great start to making video editing accessible for the blind.
Great app, but missing some features

As a blind content creator, I love having an app I can actually use to edit my videos independently! That being said I think I am experiencing some glitches which is understandable since it's a new app, but I thought I'd let you know. If I double tap on anything relating to my projects with photos or audio description either the name, edit button etc., it takes me to the menu as if I wanted to create a new project, not my project itself. Sometimes when I push export, my phone just freezes and doesn't pull up the share menu even after closing the app and reopening it. Also if I add audio to any project or adjust the volume of my video, anything relating to audio becomes mono audio instead of stereo. When I added audio to a project and turned on the audio extension because I wanted it to keep going throughout my project, it didn't extend the audio. Things that could be improved: When you trim or cut and are able to preview, you should be able to continue adjusting and play as you adjust, not push cancel in the preview menu and have to start the trimming all over again just to get it right. There could also be a third adjustable bar for milliseconds that goes from one to ten so you can get it just right. I would also like the option to put my voice over the video for narration purposes and as far as I can tell that's not an option yet. Overall I love being able to edit pretty accessibly on my own. Keep up the great work! :)
I have been waiting for something like this for a long, long time!

I am from California and I found out about this app yesterday afternoon. I downloaded it to my iPhone, and I am not kidding, I was able to make a full podcast episode on my own! I was able to put all the clips together that I wanted, and I can’t even explain how freeing that felt! I am thinking about all of the ways that this will help my creative journey, for both my podcast as well as my YouTube channel! Thank you so much for this!
Bug fixes.
