By scanning an item’s GS1 Datamatrix code with your Authenticateit app, the item’s data (including GPS coordinates of a scanned item) is instantly compared to a central database maintained by participating brands. The information is then passed back through the app for you to validate so you can proceed with the transaction in complete confidence or walk away from potential problematic purchases. As continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life, Authenticateit only activates the use of GPS when products are scanned.
