To enable BBEdit’s advanced features after the evaluation period is over, you will need to have an active BBEdit subscription. Subscriptions are available on either a monthly or annual basis.

It's really expensive for what it can do. I mean loading of big files and such things work perfectly. But there is no compleltion of code. For example in most of the other programs I just have to type in html and then enter and the hole html structure appeared.So its not worth its price

All you need for processing text files

I tried a lot, moved from here to there, did alot on command line (sed, grep, awk,...) and came to BBEdit.If you need to write code, there are better tools and for large files (tried 50GB) it does not work.But for processing, and I mean processing, it's the best you can get.And if there is a function you need which is not built into this tool, it's open to throw the whole text or selection through a process on command line.Absolute suggestion from my side.
BBEdit 15.5.5 is a free and recommended update for all customers, and includes changes to work around a bug in macOS 26 which caused the application to appear to be stalling intermittently, as well as fixes for reported symptoms.
