Noir - Dark Mode for Safari
Dienstprogramme
3,99 €
Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit.
It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again.
And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want.
Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem!
Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Control Center, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud.
And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period.
Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever.
Notes:
• Found a website where Noir’s dark mode doesn’t look just right? Let me know by reporting it. The app will be frequently updated to address issues that are reported.
Privacy Policy:
• The Noir extension requires access to the websites you visit to analyze the existing style of the page and to override it with Noir's dark style.
• Noir never collects your browsing data. The only data Noir ‘collects’ are your settings, and those will never leave your device or iCloud account.
• You can read Noir’s full Privacy Policy at https://getnoir.app/privacypolicy
mehr Works perfectly every single time. Honestly a must-have for anyone who enjoys dark mode. I have never had a problem using it which surprised me a lot. Only thing that annoys me is that the Mac version must be bought separately. Else it is worth every cent.
Entwickler-Antwort Thank you for your review!

Your review is much appreciated, thank you!
It works very well and great to set up. But, it works almost to good. The websites feel wrong. If you go full black it doesn’t feel right, but it does the job. You need to adopt to the blackness.
Entwickler-Antwort Thank you for your review. You can select different themes to make sure the result is to your liking, and you can even create custom themes if you’re looking for even more flexibility.

Hi there! Thanks you for using Noir.
Unfortunately, a new bug on iOS 26.6 can cause a delay of up to 10 seconds before extensions like Noir are loaded when you first open Safari. Once Noir is loaded, it remains loaded until Safari is removed from memory on your device. This sometimes happens automatically (especially on older devices), but it's usually because you removed Safari from the multitasking menu yourself.
When you encounter this issue, just leave Safari open. Noir should load shortly, and will be working instantly again from then on. Please refrain from closing Safari manually from the multitasking menu. Leaving Safari open means Noir remains loaded and working instantly.
Unfortunately, this is a bug in iOS itself, and there's nothing I can do about it. It happens for every Safari extension, but it's especially noticeable with Noir, because you can immediately tell that Noir has not loaded yet.
This update adds shows info about this bug when you open the Noir menu in Safari when the extension has not been loaded yet. Sadly it's all I can do for now.
I'm really sorry for the inconvenience and wish there was something I could do about it. If you have any questions about the issue, feel free to reach out to me at jeffrey@getnoir.app

Hi there! This update of Noir brings another set of website fixes and improvements. As always, thanks so much for reporting issues, these help a lot! Among these improvements is a fix for an issue that prevented nytimes.com from loading when Noir was enabled.
Additionally, Noir's default shortcuts (shown in the Shortcuts app and in Spotlight when searching for Noir) should now work more reliably, even when the app is not active in the background.
If you enjoy Noir, please consider telling others about the app! This really helps to spread the word, and I would truly appreciate it.

The latest update of iPadOS, iPadOS 26.4, brings back a Safari feature: compact tab bar. Unfortunately, it contains a bug that causes Safari to crash when you try to open the Noir menu (or any other extension).
With this update, Noir now detects when you have the compact tab bar enabled, and if so, shows a warning when you try to open the Noir menu. Changing back your setting to the default separate tab bar will restore the Noir menu again.
I'm really sorry about this. Unfortunately the crash is inside iPadOS, and beyond my control. I hope the bug gets fixed soon. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to me through the Contact Support button inside the Noir app.
If you enjoy using Noir, please consider leaving a review for the app on the App Store! It really helps spread the word!
Jeffrey
PS: If you're on iPhone, this doesn't affect you, as the bug is iPad-only.
2026.1.2 25. März
Hi there! I'm happy to introduce the latest version of Noir. If you enjoy Noir, please consider leaving a review for the app on the App Store!
# Advanced Appearance Options
Noir now includes new advanced appearance options that let you fine-tune how Noir's dark theme looks on a website. You can disable dynamic colors, hide all background images, and disable image inversion. To keep Noir as simple as possible for users who don't need these options, you first have to enable these new options in the Advanced Settings inside the Noir app. After that, you can adjust these settings for any website from the Noir menu in Safari. And of course, all changes you make will automatically be synced with all your devices using iCloud.
For more information about the available options, see “About advanced appearance options” in the Noir app.
# Report incorrectly detected built-in dark modes
You can now report incorrectly detected built-in dark modes directly from the Noir menu in Safari. You can choose to send reports automatically, be asked each time, or never send reports at all. Reports you send will be used to improve Noir for all users.
# Improved instructions for new users
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already set up the Noir extension. But for new users, the onboarding has been improved to help people get started with Noir as quickly and as easily as possible.
# Website fixes & improvements
As always, this update also includes many fixes and improvements based on the website reports that you have sent in. Thank you so much for helping me make Noir as good as possible!
- 2026.1.1: More website fixes and improvements
Thank you so much for using Noir! As mentioned, please consider leaving a review for Noir in the App Store. It really helps spread the word!
When developing Noir, I always try to balance keeping the app simple for new users while making it powerful enough for more advanced users. The new advanced appearance options offer more ways than ever to tweak Noir’s dark theme. If you’re a power user of Noir (or an aspiring one!), I hope you’ll enjoy them, without making the app unnecessarily complex for everyone else. Your feedback is always appreciated!
