Stability -- Improved performance and reliability throughout the app.

Shelves -- Shelves can now hold other shelves. Collapse a group in the sidebar, drag sub-shelves into the order you like, and the structure syncs to your other devices. Reader -- Your place in the book is now kept when you change the font, text size, theme or layout, or resize the window. Reader -- Switches in the appearance panel, such as Justify Text, now stay where you put them. Reader -- On Mac, Command-Plus and Command-Minus now zoom PDFs, and Command-0 fits the page to the window. Accessibility -- More of the app's text now follows your preferred text size on iPhone and iPad. OPDS -- Catalogs that need a login, such as Calibre-Web, no longer report "login required" on the first page you open. Calibre -- Sending books to a connected e-reader no longer pauses for several minutes after each book. Sync -- Duplicate books are now merged the same way on all your devices. A banner now tells you when your network is blocking iCloud sync. Storage -- Moving your library between iCloud Drive and Local Storage is more careful about which copy of a book it keeps. Discover -- Titles that are unavailable in your region are now sorted to the end. Stability -- Improved reliability throughout the app, especially with large libraries.

Sync -- Fixed an issue that could move your library out of iCloud, removing those books from your other devices. Your local copies were not affected. Comics -- Fixed the app quitting while reading in two-page view on iPhone and iPad. Spreads now use significantly less memory. Reader -- Fixed a rare issue where searching inside a book could return garbled results or quit unexpectedly. This affected books containing certain accented characters, such as those used in Turkish. Discover -- Availability now reflects the copyright rules for your region. Some titles may appear as unavailable where you are.

Storage -- Choose how your iCloud library uses device space. "Optimize Storage" keeps only recently read books on your device and automatically frees up space as needed. "Keep All on Device" downloads your entire library so every book is available offline. Switch between modes any time in Settings > Storage. Storage -- Pin individual books or entire shelves to keep them on your device, even in Optimize mode. Pinned books download automatically in the background and are never evicted. Long-press (iOS) or right-click (macOS) a book or shelf to pin it. Reader -- You can now increase the font size up to 60pt (previously 32pt), making it much easier to read on larger screens or for anyone who prefers bigger text. Reader -- Fixed the reader's font choices occasionally failing to load, which could make some books fall back to the default typeface. Sync -- Book details and the inspector now update instantly when changes arrive from another device, without needing to navigate away and back. Sync -- Reading position for PDFs and comics now syncs correctly across all your devices, including between macOS and iOS. Shelves -- A confirmation dialog now appears before deleting a shelf, so you won't lose one by accident. Tags -- Fixed a rare issue where assigning tags to several books quickly could lose some of the changes. Calibre -- Fixed a rare issue where starting a sync session twice could corrupt the connection. Localization -- Added translations for the new storage settings and other strings in all 33 languages. Stability -- Fixed several crashes and improved performance, especially for larger libraries.

Tag Manager -- Create, rename, merge, and delete tags to organize your library your way. Pin your favorites to the sidebar for quick access. Tags -- Tags and subjects are now displayed separately. Assign tags directly from the book context menu. Changes sync across all your devices. Book Inspector -- A cleaner, more compact layout. Contributor roles like illustrator, editor, and translator are now labeled and translated in all 33 languages. Import -- Contributors are now correctly identified by role instead of all being listed as authors. Books whose metadata lists only non-author roles (e.g. editor or illustrator) will now show "Unknown Author" -- set a custom author in the Book Inspector to override. OPDS Server -- Browse your library by subject category from any OPDS reader. Calibre -- Fixed a crash when syncing books with bookmark metadata. Tag sync now sends only your personal tags; EPUB subjects are no longer included. Reader -- The screen now stays awake while you're reading. Shelves -- Drag to reorder your shelves on both macOS and iOS.

Sync -- Duplicate detection is significantly more reliable. Merging duplicates now correctly preserves all shelves, tags, authors, bookmarks, highlights, reading sessions, series assignments, and covers. Sync -- Fixed shelf repair resurrecting shelves that you intentionally removed. Sync -- Delete ordering is now correct, preventing ghost records that could reappear after deletion. Comics -- Fixed a race condition where changing reading direction or other settings while viewing a comic could lose the change. Discover -- Catalog sync is more resilient, with better retry handling and clearer error diagnostics when the connection is unstable. Stability -- Hardened internal data migration and improved test coverage across sync, import, and preferences.

Sync -- Reading progress now saves precisely instead of overwriting the entire record, preventing data loss when two devices sync at the same time. Several other sync conflict scenarios that could lose edits or resurrect deleted books have been fixed. Sync -- Duplicate detection preserves covers, custom metadata, and shelf assignments when merging duplicates. Previously, deduplication could silently drop these. Import -- ISBN detection is more reliable, now scanning all metadata fields instead of just the first. Duplicate detection during batch imports is also improved. Discover -- The "Already in Library" badge works reliably with accent-insensitive author matching, and load-more errors show a small retry button instead of a blank screen. Reader -- Fixed several issues with page position: rotating an iOS device no longer jumps to the wrong page, and resuming a book always opens to the correct position. EPUBs with embedded data: URI images now display correctly. Covers -- Placeholder covers have been redesigned with better typography, including correct Arabic and Thai rendering. Downloaded covers are now validated before saving. Send to Reader -- SMTP auto-detection no longer overwrites manually entered server settings, and error messages now distinguish between rejected addresses, spam blocks, and connection failures. Resume Last Book (iOS) -- The app can reopen the last book you were reading on launch. Enable it in Settings > Reader. Deep links and share sheet imports always take priority. Calibre -- Fixed a race condition where a keepalive timer could interfere with an active book transfer, and another where disconnecting mid-transfer could corrupt the session state. Stability -- Numerous reliability fixes across sync, import, cloud storage, reading sessions, and the OPDS server. Improved performance for large libraries through database-level search and sort.

Reader -- Highlights and notes are more reliable. Adding a highlight or note now applies instantly and saves correctly, highlights can always be deleted or edited afterward, and marking the same passage twice no longer creates duplicates. Reader -- Fixed embedded fonts occasionally failing to load, which could make some books fall back to a default typeface. PDF -- Fixed adding a note in two-page (spread) view showing a blank note, and highlights or notes sometimes not appearing until the book was reopened. Highlight and note changes are no longer lost if a save is interrupted. Bookmarks -- Fixed the bookmark button occasionally showing the wrong state when tapped quickly in PDFs and comics. Library -- Editing a book's metadata no longer clears its series, and saving with no changes no longer overwrites your existing edits. OPDS Catalogs -- Adding a catalog you've already saved now shows a clear message instead of doing nothing, and connection problems are reported instead of failing silently. Localization -- Corrected formality and wording across translations in several languages. Stability -- A range of reliability and threading fixes across the reader, sync, and library. Spotted a translation issue? Let us know via Settings > Report an Issue.

Reader -- Books with obfuscated fonts now display correctly instead of being rejected as DRM-protected. Both IDPF and Adobe font obfuscation methods are supported. Reader -- Fixed scroll mode breaking stylesheet images and backgrounds when navigating between chapters. EPUB -- More accurate metadata. Books using EPUB 3 title-type are now parsed correctly, multi-rootfile containers pick the right content, and manifest items with missing media types are handled instead of dropped. OPDS Catalogs -- More reliable connections to password-protected servers. Covers, search, and re-authentication now work correctly on servers that use cookies or basic auth. Fixed a stall when loading large Calibre libraries. Import -- Fixed manga and comic series being flagged as duplicates when importing multiple volumes. Comics -- SVG covers are now rendered on iOS, where they previously showed a generic image. Performance -- Replaced the third-party reading engine with a custom-built one. Books open faster, the app launches quicker, and the download size is smaller. Stability -- Hardened archive handling against oversized or malformed files, and fixed decompression failures on some EPUBs with slightly misreported file sizes.

Your changes are saved separately from the original file, and you can revert any field with one tap. OPDS Catalogs -- Rebuilt catalog browsing on a faster engine with broader compatibility. Connecting to a server now has a cleaner, fully translated setup screen. Shelves -- Redesigned the new-shelf and edit-shelf screens with a cleaner, more consistent layout, and shelf counts now update instantly. Reader -- Bigger, easier-to-tap controls on iPhone and iPad, plus more accurate text selection and highlighting. Reliability -- More dependable iCloud and on-device storage, so your books stay available when you need them, plus a range of stability fixes across the app. Import -- Fixed some valid FictionBook (FB2) files being rejected, and stopped PDFs and comics from being mislabeled when added from an OPDS catalog. Localization -- Filled in missing translations and corrected accented characters across all 33 languages. Spotted a translation issue? Let us know via Settings > Report an Issue.

Localization -- BookShelves is now available in 33 languages. The entire app -- library, reader, settings, and all menus -- is translated. You can also pick a per-app language on iOS in Settings > Apps > BookShelves. Reader -- Images no longer split across page breaks in paginated mode. Reader -- Scroll mode saves and restores your position more accurately when returning to a book. Comics -- Larger comic files are now supported. The per-page size limit has been raised, and iOS memory limits are enforced more precisely to avoid crashes. Calibre -- Wireless transfers from KOReader no longer stall when multiple books are sent in quick succession. OPDS -- Book downloads from the built-in OPDS server are now streamed instead of loaded entirely into memory, fixing timeouts on large files. Stability -- Rebuilt the reader's internal content engine for faster startup and more reliable background recovery on iOS. Spotted a translation issue? Let us know via Settings > Report an Issue.

Reader — More accurate reading progress. The progress percentage is now based on actual content size rather than an estimate, so it no longer jumps around when you turn pages or navigate backward. Reader — Book-wide page numbers. The progress bar now shows your position as "Page 47 of 312" instead of the previous "Chapter 15/233 . Page 3/6" format. Page numbers are stable across sessions. Reader — Dark and tinted themes now apply more consistently to books that ship their own colors, so styled pages no longer show stray light backgrounds in dark mode. Comics — Rebuilt the comic engine for more reliable opening of CBZ, CBR, and CB7 files, including a fix for comics that could previously get stuck on a loading spinner. Manga reading direction is now remembered per book. Discover — Japanese public domain literature from Aozora Bunko (青空文庫) is now available as a source.

Reader — New scroll reading mode. Switch between page-by-page and continuous scroll in the reader appearance menu. Scroll mode loads every chapter into one flowing document so you can read without page breaks. Reader — Scroll mode tracks your chapter and position as you read. Switch back to paginated mode and your place is preserved. Reader — The reader now auto-downloads books stored in iCloud instead of showing an error. A progress indicator appears while the file transfers. Stability — Improved crash recovery in the reader. If the system reclaims WebView memory, the reader restores your position instead of going blank. Stability — Safer handling of books deleted by iCloud sync while a view is open. The app now degrades gracefully instead of crashing. Stability — Moved network services off the main thread for smoother scrolling and faster book opening. Import — Faster imports for large collections. The import pipeline no longer blocks the main thread. Security — Archives with spoofed filenames are now rejected.

Swipe gestures are more responsive and no longer occasionally swallowed by the web view. Reader — The reader now recovers gracefully if the system reclaims its memory under pressure, instead of showing a blank page. iCloud — Opening a book stored in iCloud now shows a download progress bar on the cover instead of a plain spinner. You can see exactly how much has downloaded before reading starts. iCloud — More reliable storage migration when switching between local and iCloud storage. The app verifies every file after migration and reports any problems. Reader — Chapter headings stay centered when text justification is enabled. Reader — CJK ruby annotations (furigana, pinyin, hanja readings) are now preserved correctly instead of being stripped during import. Security — Hardened archive parsing and the built-in web server against crafted input. Performance — Faster library loading for large collections. Reduced memory usage when browsing books with many authors or tags. Stability — Fixed a crash when creating bookmarks or highlights after navigating between books. Fixed a background crash on iOS. Reader — Lists, blockquotes, and table cells now render correctly in RTL books. CSS uses logical properties so layout adapts to any text direction. iCloud — Books stored in iCloud can now be opened, exported, and sent to KOReader without waiting for a manual download first. The app materializes cloud-only files on demand and shows a Cancel button if the download takes too long. iCloud — More reliable file handling across the board. Folder imports, cover repair, and the OPDS server all detect iCloud placeholders instead of silently skipping cloud-only books. Import — Files picked from iCloud Drive that haven't been downloaded yet are now fetched automatically before import, so cloud-only files no longer fail with a cryptic error. OPDS — A warning banner appears when a slow server can't load some entries, instead of silently dropping them. Stability — Replaced polling loops with event-driven downloads across code paths. Improved CloudKit sync diagnostics. General reliability improvements.

Reader — Crisper chapter titles. Fixed a subtle alignment shift between the title's foreground and faded background layers so titles render pixel-perfect across themes. PDF — Fixed a rare crash when opening PDFs while Apple Intelligence is active. PDFs now load through a path that's compatible with on-device intelligence features. Email to E-Reader — More reliable when sending books that live in iCloud. The app now waits for the book file to fully download from iCloud before composing the email, so sends no longer fail silently when a book is offloaded. Import — Clearer error messages when a file can't be opened. You'll now see the actual reason — wrong format, truncated download, or unsupported - instead of a generic "conversion failed." OPDS — Friendlier guidance when adding HTTP-only catalogs. App Transport Security blocks plain HTTP for most servers; the app now explains this up front and links to a new support article. Local-network and link-local addresses are still allowed.
