Rollvane

Rollvane is a calm, single-purpose exposure helper and roll log for film photographers. Pick a lighting condition, pick your film ISO, and Rollvane gives you the correct aperture and shutter pairs straight from Sunny-16. Then log every frame as you shoot it so the roll comes back from the lab with notes that actually mean something.
WHY ROLLVANE
- The Sunny-16 rule is the simplest light meter in the world, but it lives in your head and not on your phone. Rollvane prints the answer in big numbers.
- Picking the wrong shutter for the wrong ISO is why so many handheld frames blur or get muddy in the highlights. Rollvane keeps you on a known-good pair.
- A roll comes back six months later and you have no idea what you shot. Rollvane logs subject, aperture, shutter, condition, and push/pull per frame.
WHAT YOU GET
- Five lighting conditions: Bright Sun, Hazy, Cloudy Bright, Open Shade, Heavy Overcast - each mapped to the Sunny-16 reference aperture.
- Seven film speeds: 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200.
- Equivalent pair grid: for any condition + ISO, see every valid aperture+shutter combo from f/1.4 to f/22 across 1/15 to 1/2000.
- A standalone Exposure Helper tab for quick lookups when you don't want to start a roll.
- A 36-frame visual grid per roll. Empty frame? Tap +. Already exposed? Tap to review.
- Per-frame metadata: condition, aperture, shutter, ISO, push/pull EV, subject, notes.
- Push/pull tracking so you can mark "+1 stop" on a frame for development time.
- Mark a roll Finished, Re-open it, or delete it. Active and Archived sections keep your workflow clean.
BUNDLED LIBRARIES
- 30+ popular film stocks: Portra, Tri-X, HP5+, Delta, T-Max, Acros II, Provia, Velvia, Ektar, ColorPlus, Gold, CineStill, Lomography, Kentmere, Fomapan, Ferrania, more.
- 25 popular cameras: Pentax K1000, Nikon F3, Canon AE-1, Leica M6, Olympus OM-1, Mamiya 7, Hasselblad 500C/M, Rolleiflex, Yashica Mat, and more across 35mm, medium format, large format, half-frame, rangefinder, and point-and-shoot.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Rollvane has no account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no subscription, and no developer backend. The math, the bundled film and camera lists, and your roll history all live on your device and stay there. No camera, no microphone, no location.
ONE-TIME PURCHASE
Rollvane is a single $0.99 purchase. No in-app purchases. No upsells. No daily limits. The features above are the whole product.
GREAT FOR
- Anyone shooting an all-manual SLR (K1000, FM2, OM-1) without a meter.
- Anyone whose handheld meter battery died on a trip and Sunny-16 is the backup.
- Anyone who wants their roll to come back with frame notes attached.
- Photo students and Sunny-16 self-teachers.
Open Rollvane, pick a condition, pick your ISO, and shoot. The right pair is already on screen.
