HOW TO GET STARTED
• Download the Audible app, sign in with your Amazon account using an email address. If you don’t have one yet, start by setting it up
• Sign up to an Audible membership
• Choose any book to get started
• You can download to your device and your titles will be waiting in your Audible Library in the app
As an Audible member, you’ll receive one ‘credit’ each month, which you can use to purchase any audiobook of your choice. Each credit will rollover for up to 6 months (note that credit rollover may vary across surfaces) – so you can listen at your own pace. We love how much there is to explore—even beyond books. Stream relaxing sound baths, radio plays and dramatizations, language courses, and more.
Hate new App front page
Audible app is definately in my top 5 apps I go for on a daily basis on my iPhone and iPad. First thing when I get in the car I select my latest book to listen to. When I'm at my desk I set my phone on it's dock and continue 'reading' while I work and the same goes when I'm cooking. I use this more than iTunes nowadays.
It isn't perfect - I don't download to my phone anymore because usually I get an error message after it's downloaded the first 5-10% of a book, and then just stops - nothing will get a download past the first 10% no matter how I tweak the settings. So now I just download to my Mac and drop it into iTunes, to load up when I sync next. It's a bit of a nuisance but....
This never used to happen, just since 2 or 3 revisions ago. I can live with the inconvenience though. What I couldn't live without now is the App itself - it's so convenient to listen to a book rather than have to give a book your whole attention as with a paper book or eBook - although I read plenty of them too.
My only real hate is the ‘dashboard’/home page the app starts on now. I’m not interested in whatever it has to say...all I want is my Library when I open the app.
An intelligent look at the post capitalist world order
The books reads as a retrospective look at the evolution of capitalism and as a letter to the dreams and visions of Yanis’s father. A deep dive and collective view of the future of capitalism re written by the cloudalist, argues that China and America basically own the future. The new rent seekers are the technology companies in earnest now realistically control much of the way societies think and interact as well as the way global finance interacts with consumers and businesses. A great critique of the promise of blockchain and digital coins and how they were usurped by con artists and the dream of decentralisation way just a parting dream. It’s a sorrow tale for left who dreamed of a post capitalist rebirth of the socialist system. That is dead the power now more than ever resides in the hands of tech bros and fewer nation states to set the rule of the future. I appreciate that he gives a remedy to this at the end, with a independent revolutionary concept, worth exploring, the conditioning of all us will be at war with the desire for change someday I hope. A great contribution to a topic not really discussed today and one I hope sees other expand on.
