Canon Camera Connect is an application to transfer images shot with compatible Canon cameras to smartphone/tablet.

By connecting to a camera with Wi-Fi (direct connection or via wireless router), this application provides the following features:
・Transfer and save camera images to a smartphone.
・Remote shoot with live view imaging of the camera from a smartphone.

This application also provides the following features for compatible cameras.
・Acquire location information from a smartphone and add it to the images on the camera.
・Switch to a Wi-Fi connection from pairing status with a Bluetooth enabled camera.
・Remote release of the camera shutter with a Bluetooth connection.

*For compatible models and features, please refer to the following website.

-Operating System
iOS 11.4/12.3

-Bluetooth System Requirement
For Bluetooth connection, the camera needs to have a Bluetooth function, and your device needs to have Bluetooth 4.0 or later (supports Bluetooth Low energy technology).

-Compatible File Types
・RAW (CR3) images can be imported as RAW (CR3) format by selecting [RAW image save format] > [RAW format] from the [Images on camera] setting while connected to a CR3 compatible model (iOS 12.1 or later).
・RAW burst files cannot be imported to smart devices. Extract the CR3 images from the RAW burst file in advance on the camera side, and then import them to the smart device.
・Importing original RAW(CR2) files is not supported (RAW files are resized to JPEG).
・MOV files shot with EOS cameras cannot be saved.
・AVCHD files shot with Camcorder cannot be saved.

-Important Notes
・If application does not operate properly, try again after shutting down the application.
・Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
・In the case of using Power Zoom Adapter, please set the Live View function to ON.
・The images may include your personal information such as GPS data. Be careful when posting images online where many others can view them.

・Visit your local Canon Web pages for more details.

Needs fixing

I’ve used this app for awhile now and it’s been great, I’ve been able to download my photos from my camera to my phone and as a young, learning photographer it’s really helped me show my photos to people. However, ever since I have got my new phone the app doesn’t seem to want to connect my camera to my phone and so I can’t get my photos, I work as a photographer at my youth group so I really need to get them onto my phone in order to send them to my youth after the night ends and because it now won’t connect I’m unable to. This really needs to be fixed because I have tried everything and still nothing.

Probably the Worst App Ever Written

It’s beyond me how such a piece of garbage was allowed out. I mean, how hard can it be to connect iPad to camera?
Well, for Canon the answer is very hard thanks to an utterly illogical sequence of inputs. And one would think that, once you have managed to connect (no idea how; it just sort of happened), connecting the next time would be easy. But no, of course not. This is Canon, after all. Anyway, the camera’s SSID appears on the iPad - 10 points - but then you’re asked for a password. Somewhere in the chaotic process passwords had appeared but they changed with every attempt (they looked like OTPs). , no matter how hard I tried I could not find the thing nor could I reconnect.

So I gave up, put my Bose headphones on - instant connection - and listened to music instead.

Absolutely useless & extremely frustrating

After going through multiple, confusing connection steps, which usually produce nothing, finally, by some random luck getting the camera connected (doing the same steps, but producing a different result), then you MIGHT get to see your photos on my iPhone (although usually only some of them appear before it randomly disconnects again), and if you’re even luckier, you MIGHT even be able to transfer one or two before the again random disconnection occurs.
Fix this useless app, please Canon. We buy your fancy, expensive cameras, and would like to be able to access our photos from a device... It’s utterly frustrating as it is now.
