Ratings and Reviews
Great, but...
Great game spoiled by some lazy programming (tooltips appear right under your finger, the touch accuracy seems really off at times, you spend half your time waiting for your turn) and very strange balance issues (level 1 bosses can destroy level 5 parties in a couple of turns -in fact, random encounters can do that too, and training new characters is very tedious). The ipad version seems much harder and more erratic in its execution compared to the Mac/PC. It’s a shame as this is a game perfect for touch. Desperate for a rebalance and a patch, but still strangely addictive (and maddening)
Clever ideas marred by major design flaws
I really want to like this game. I love everything about the setting and overall tone, and the combat system has some interestingly original design elements that make it fun to explore. However the game is made unplayable for me by a couple of glaring design flaws, the big one being the level cap on dungeons. Your squad needs to be at the top of their level bracket to have any chance of success, but if one character accidentally levels up then they are excluded from the mission and you need to train up a whole new character to replace them. This becomes tedious very quickly.
Fun, but controls need to be fixed for iPad
This is a good fun game that is sadly let down by lazy porting...
Tool tips appear right under your finger and commands are often accidentally activated when trying to bring them up (e.g. trying to check the light level and accidentally using a torch, or trying to check a room and accidentally travelling there).
The text on the UI is also quite small and needs to be optimised for smaller screens.
Still worth buying and fun to play, just could be a smoother port.
If you have this on PC, play it there to avoid frustration.
