I’ve been using Dashlane now for years. I first tried the free version for a while, about a year, maybe two, and I thought it was a great way to keep all my passwords secure. Since I needed more than 50 passwords after a while, I paid for the premium version, and have never looked back. The ability to generate random passwords (up to 40 random characters) was a great feature for me. However, I would like it to be extended to at least 60 characters, for even more safety. The VPN that comes with Dashlane could be better, since it’s a separate service that needs to be paid for. If it were integrated into Dashlane, it would make a good product even better. I no longer need to remember any passwords except my master password, and since I use the random password generator, not even I know my passwords to most of my accounts. Keeping passwords safe is important. I was a little disappointed when Dashlane decided to change from having the passwords on the computer to the server, and wondered if it would be safer that way, but since it’s encrypted both ways, and only accessible by my computers, using my master password it seems safe enough. User protection is high on the app.
Fantastic App but...

This app solved a very big problem for me with my passwords. I used to have seperate passwords for certain categories of websites but there were still a lot of repeated passwords. Dashlane makes strong passwords easier than remembering passwords outright.However, one bug that I have ran into for awhile now is there seems to be a desync between the Dashlane app and the “Password Selection” screen when you use the “Password” button on your keyboard when entering your credentials. I will use the “Password button” to select the website credentials to be be presented with a “invalid credentials” error. But if I directly navigate to the app and copy the password manually from the app onto the website, the credentials work fine. Not sure what the issue is there but it’s super annoying.

I would have rated this 5 stars, but a recent push to stop users from accessing via the web-interface will render this pretty useless to me in a few days’ time. The intention of pushing people to a mandatory browser extension interface is a good one, grounded in sound security intentions, except, many of us who use Dashlane on our corporate devices to access our personal passwords will now effectively be bricked, as corporate enforcement policies block the installation of unapproved extensions. And if Dashlane is not the corporate password of manager of choice, then it’s not going to wind up on the approved list. So, I have a password manager that I won’t be able to use on the device where I spend 70% of my time. It’s with regret that I’ll now need to look at other options and again go through the pain of setting up one a different platform. An option to allow users to opt out of this mandate would have been a much wiser idea. A shame…
Dashlane v Lastpass

I have been using Lastpass for a number of years but have been put off by their history of being hacked. I am now trialling Dashlane (Advanced) and like it a lot. The one thing I like is when you open a webpage DL gives you options based on the Name of the password and not just the User ID like LP does. With a number of logins for one site this makes DL a big winner for me. On the negative side DL does not have the depth of LP login info eg where there may be multiple layers to log-in eg U/N, P/W and surname. I also found that DL requires just the bare details of Passport info. LP allows you to add attachments (eg photo of Passport) to back-up your Passport info. It appears you can only add attachments when completing a Secure Note. It would be great to be able to add an attachment for Personal ID options as well (eg driver’s licence and passport). Overall I am tending toward keeping DL and unsubscribing from LP for the security alone.
