Dexcom Follow – Monitor a Loved One’s Glucose Wherever You Are!
The Dexcom Follow App is part of the Dexcom CGM system.
Use this app if your loved one is sharing data from their Dexcom CGM app. The Sharer will need to send an invitation to allow you to connect after you have installed the Follow app.
Dexcom Follow is the perfect companion to your loved one’s Dexcom CGM, connecting you to those nearest and dearest to you, even when they’re far away. Through secure wireless connections, Dexcom Follow allows you to view and follow the glucose levels, trends and data of your loved ones.
Whether you have a child who is in school, an elderly parent who lives on their own, or a spouse who is going on a business trip, Dexcom Follow is there to keep you connected and informed.
With Dexcom Follow, you can:
· Monitor your loved one’s glucose activity at school or anywhere they go.
· Receive glucose information of up to 10 different Sharers – children, friends, or other loved ones.
· Respond quickly with the help of customizable glucose alerts and push notifications that can inform you when a Sharer’s glucose levels are outside the usual ranges.

Alerts not enough
The follow app should have the option for more alert frequency like the full Dexcom g6 app to help parents. My son has been getting alerts and I haven’t. I can’t even customise my settings to make them the same intervals as his can. He is 10, and usually the first alert I get woken from in the night is HIS phone in his room, not mine. It’s making things very stressful thinking I am going to miss something. Such a basic feature. Why not have the alert settings be able to match!
I also want an alert feature where I can tell it to continue to repeat until I shut it off for example. A few beeps just isn’t enough sometimes.
A good app
Very happy with the app and does everything we could hope for to help monitor our 9yo son while we’re at work. Some minor suggestions for future development please:
1. Allow ‘multitask’ mode to view more than just 1 app at a time on iPad. We use an ipad in the kitchen to monitor our sons BGL throughout the day, on a stand. By allowing multitask mode, in landscape mode we can have a 2nd app running all day, side by side.
2. Universal version to support iPad natively (rather than X2 zoom iPhone)
3. If the app is running and being charged, the option to allow the screen to be always ‘on’ without changing the Auto Lock setting to Never. It’s a bit annoying to keep turning my phone on to see what my son’s BGLs are (an Alarm Clock app I purchased can do this).
4. Allow Dexcom ‘Follow’ as a dedicated complication on Apple Watch (not just Dexcom the main app) for parents.
5. Allow the Follow app to show insulin pump’s ‘Insulin on board’ for at-a-glance reassurance that insulin is being delivered. Would require working with insulin pump manufacturers.
You have the chance
Please please please… you have the opportunity for all apple type ones and their parents to be a bigger customer footprint. You are losing them to Fitbit because they take follow into their own hands. You could have follow be automatically viewed from the watch face instead of tap to view. You could have the graph view side by side with dex or even just have the follow icon show the glucose level just line the dex watch face does … please these details make the difference. Even a vibration alert for high low or no data alerts …. Your developers can do these things and the app will be great!
