Description

Space! Dexter Stardust barely escaped when the Vreesians, inhabitants of the menacing Planet X, sent a fleet of robots to destroy all life on Earth. Now, twenty years later, a mechanical man from the 10th planet seeks to communicate with Dexter a very important message - he is the key to saving both humans and Vreesians! Play the taco-loving Dexter Stardust as he, and his good friend Aurora, go on the greatest adventure of their lives and discover the mystery of the Robot from the Planet X!

Dexter Stardust was illustrated, animated, written, scored, SFX'd, and programmed by one person, Jeremy Fryc. Even so, the characters are voiced by his friends, Munk Alejandro, Lola Mendez, and Alec Corday - who helped create the characters way back in 2012 on a warm afternoon in the Dominican Republic. 10 years later, we finally have... Loved it!

I’m so glad I finally gave in to downloading Dexter as I’ve had it in my maybe pile for too long. The previous review did turn me off a little however the way in which the developer responded to that review is what made me want to download it and give it a try for myself & I'm so happy I did! I loved Dexter’s character (voice included) and I found the game quite funny. The only characters voice that took me a bit to adjust to was Aurora’s because it feels a little robotic. Other than that it was a great game & I hope the developer receives the recognition they deserve for it!

Feedback for developer: One thing I really did not like (this includes any game that does this) is when an adventure game is broken up into episodes/chapters which psychologically ends up making the game feel soo much smaller especially when you have 1 massive chapter and the rest are all small & you’re ending on a small chapter. If the game was played start to finish without it being broken up then I would have felt like it was much longer even though it’s technically the exact same amount of time.

I absolutely loved chapter 3 and one thing in particular that you don’t see so often is that I had so many different items at one point and I had a rough idea what I needed most of them for but it made it more challenging to figure out the next puzzle. It’s hard to explain but a lot of these games end up feeling too easy where you have only a couple of items and 1-2 puzzles to solve at one time which makes it pretty easy to figure out and move on.

Thanks again for all your hard work on this! 😊

Developer Response ,

Thanks for playing my game! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it overall. And I appreciate your feedback -- the reason the game is broken into episodes is a direct result for player feedback pre-launch. Some of the puzzles were overly confusing, since the player could enter areas before they were supposed to go there. Additionally, the story beats didn't hit correctly. Making it episodic allowed there to be a pre-episode and post-episode cutscene; building suspense and motivating the player to complete it. Admittedly, it's not perfect and I'm still learning! I'm trying my best to hone my craft and I appreciate your comments. Thanks again. All the best! - Jeremy

Terrible

The dialogue and voice acting in this game were created by special needs people. Anyone who has rated this game highly is either under the age of seven, or special needs themselves. I completed all 4 episodes. I love adventure games. This is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The jokes are nowhere near funny and the storyline is predictable. If I was Mexico, I’d sue the company that made it. It makes Mexicans seem like absolute morons.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for playing my game. First of all, I appreciate your honestly. Second, this game was created and voice acted by a mix of people, including latino individuals. Dexter Stardust himself is voice acted by my friend, Munk, who is Mexican. We're sorry to hear that it didn't resonate with you. Even the highest rated games are not for everyone. All the best! - Jeremy
