DoorBird 4+

If you live in Australia do not buy this product. All the features of door bird were exactly what we were looking for in our new house. We bought it before we even started building so we could ensure the specifications were correct for wiring and to build our security gates to house it. When we eventually installed it it was very disappointing. The speaker quality was terrible. Couriers and visitors would get so frustrated trying to listen to my instructions over the speaker. I sounded like I was under water with a huge delay. Then when my installer tried to get support to fix the problem the app just stopped working. Door bird just said it wasn’t covered under warranty and that the unit was faulty. Our options are to replace it at a cost of $500 US or wait for the upgrade with a generous 20% discount. DoorBird are crooks! The Door bird can be remotely cut off when ever they want, which I suspect they have done to me, as we started to inquire about the fault, suddenly the unit can’t connect to the app. Then they offer to upgrade or sell you parts that are ridiculously expensive. There is no Australian customer service. You have to deal with Germany. We bought our unit 3 year ago but have only installed it for last 8months. There weren’t any reviews when I bought it. Now I have read many reviews with the same problem. Buyer beware! Now I have a very expensive doorbell that does absolutely nothing!!

Our product warranty's conditions are common and even better than other smart products on the market. We have offices in Germany and the US, and yes, our customer support is handled from these offices, but we also have distributors worldwide. We recommend to contact our technical support team :)

The DoorBird service allows me to observe, review and respond to visitors or movement at my front door. The app has a range of features however importantly it isn’t too complex for those that are looking for the basic of features (ie a doorbell, motion and video conversational abilities).
DoorBird also allows you to store (up to a certain number of days) historical photos of those where doorbell was rung or motion detected, which is a great feature. I’d recommend this product over the Ring also as it is able to be directly plugged into Ethernet.

DoorBird make really well designed hardware that looks good on any modern home. However, their app development skills are lacking and need to catch up much faster than they have in the 2+ years since I first bought their product where there has been no visible improvements since.

The app is not intuitive with buttons and menus that are years behind modern app standards. It needs an urgent, customer led design facelift.

However much worse than that is the delay from doorbell ringing to being able to see who’s there and talk to them or open a gate. This consistently takes >10 seconds and is well behind much cheaper alternatives like Ring. I have a wired connection to the DoorBird of >100Mbps and have done the suggested checks that DoorBird recommend. It’s not an internet issue at my end.

DoorBird team - please take this feedback seriously (and the dozens of others rating you about this issue) and take action to fix this around the world (and especially Australia for me). For a premium priced product, it’s miles behind expectations.
