-AUTO SHIFT not requiring any gear shifting operation is comfortable. But to make the shift timing a bit quicker, change the timing to your preference with the app.
Ride comfortably even in a city with many traffic lights since it automatically switches to your favorite gear when stopping.

- Custom settings in Mybike can now be viewed or preset even when the app is not connected to the bike.
The preset Custom settings are applied when the app is connected to the bike.
*1 Updating the firmware on the applicable models is required to use this function.

Rubbish app
This is a rubbish app. Poorly designed and coded by a huge corporation who should do better. Specialized and Bosch both have better hardware and software on their e-bikes.
Took ages to connect by Bluetooth and worked until today when app and all settings were completely wiped clean and the app no longer will recognise the unit. Bluetooth momentarily will recognise the unit and then disconnects. It’s clunky poor software. Shimano should be pumping out monthly firmware and software updates to make this frictionless. They don’t care. Go with Specialized or Bosch. Leave Shimano Steps/e-tube alone.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD
I just bought the 9170 Di2 for my first new bike in years. Switched back from SRAM. Downloaded the E-Tube app and the firmware update failed and now nothing works. Honestly the biggest disappointment. If you can’t offer a program that works don’t offer it at all. Now the night before a long weekend I am with a new bike that doesn’t work. Just wanted to reach out and say thanks for ruining my long weekend. Shimano is a let down
Takes a while
I had initial issues in connecting . It didn’t allow me to reset a password i had long forgotten. That is without going into the dealer! Once up and running, the software updates were easy to add. I will get around to the advice in fixing the derailleur! Whilst not that much to vary in Mac iphone version with now old E8000 engine , setting to dynamic was a revelation in improving my trail and bike park riding . I wonder what further development of the E8000 there will be ?
