Brilliant app with one flaw

This is a brilliant application with one flaw.

On an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus FileBrowser allows

I’ve noticed that when playing a video through FileBrowser from a file server or PC on an iPhone XR or XS in landscape mode when I multitask out of the video or file to access imessage or mail or Facebook (or whatever) then return to the video it doesn’t allow me to switch between portrait and landscape within FileBrowser anymore until I close out of FileBrowser and reopen it.

On an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus FileBrowser allows you to run a video then switch between apps then return to the video then go back between portrait and landscape.

So to sum up

iPhone XR/XS/XS Max FileBrowser can’t go to landscape then switch between apps then return to FileBrowser and you then can’t go between landscape/portrait mode.

iPhone 7/7 Plus/8/8 Plus you can go between FileBrowser and other apps and back to FileBrowser and FileBrowser will continue to allow you to go between portrait and landscape modes.

So the flaw is that FileBrowser doesn’t work properly on the new iPhones without the old home button and Touch ID.

I hope that is clearly understood and that the FileBrowser support team can address this as soon as possible.

Otherwise FileBrowser is a perfect app.

Kind regards

Taken for an idiot ,

Not for the novice. Unfortunately I purchased this app when there was no free trial. Looking to use with WD home cloud drive seeing WD software for the drive is so notoriously bad. Could only get the app to partially work by doing a hard reset on my iPad Pro after many long hours trying to nut through the setup process. Support for the app comprises of a link from the support centre to a help page! The only thing I got from the help page was to learn that this app does not support the WD home cloud drive unless you reconfigure the drives UI. I was looking to minimise the amount of storage on Apples iCloud, looks like I will be increasing it to TB storage. As I said not for the novice and with next to no support I suggest you give it give it a big miss, unless you like banging you head against a brick wall.

Have just changed my rating back to one star after it was changed to four stars

Have gone back and tried to get this app to work, but have since noticed that the most basic functions of the “FileBrowser” fail. In the photo library of the app you can brows photos in the camera roll, but when you go to the Albums folder in the app some of the Albums are empty even though the photos display in the camera roll section.....Too hard.

Developer Response ,

We're sorry to hear that you had problems connecting to your WD home cloud drive. Many of our users have that drive and FileBrowser finds it on the network and connects with no problems. If you email they will help get you connected.

Great application - Slideshow option could be better

This is a great app and I’ve been using it for ages. They changed something in the coding for the slideshow system though that’s super annoying. When you have the slideshow on random, then pause the slideshow you can’t go to the next file in the sequence like you could before. The current solution is to exit then find the image then open it so the images will be in sequence. If your showing clients images and they spot something they want to see more of it’s embarrassing to exit and search. If it wasn’t random after pausing a slideshow the whole process would be better. Support said they “Might introduce an option in the future” and it’s been months since they said that. It was there before why not just add the option to do what was possible before? Video support could also be better, like built in brightness, volume, and skipping gestures. With these additions I wouldn’t have to use multiple apps for different media types and my clients would be happier in my displaying media.
