Focus Stacker combines sharp areas from multiple images into one seamless composite image. The focus stacking is used in macro photography for subjects like flowers, insects, jewelry, in microscope image processing, in landscape photography. The app has an advanced automatic stacking algorithm and also includes manual retouch mode allowing to have full control of the final result.
Main Focus Stacker features:
- Automatic advanced image alignment for stacking.
- Automatic detection and seamless blending of sharp image regions.
- Retouch mode allows precisely select areas from source images for complex cases where automatic selection is not possible, like moving insect antennae, similarly sharp backgrounds/foregrounds and so on.
- Built-in planar stitching. Especially useful for microscope images where the whole specimen does not fit into one frame.
- Optional exposure leveling routine available.
- All processing done in 32 bit floats, import in all image formats supported by macOS (including those in Apple Raw), export in 16 bit TIFF or 8 bit JPEG/PNG.

Does jus what it says.

After getting a camera (Z5) that allows focus shifting I was keen to try it out. Whilst I could stack my photos in PS, it did not give consistently good results and I didn’t want to go directly to one of the more expensive dedicated stacking programs. I found a recommendation for Focus Stacker. It does exactly what I want reliably every time. I can load Nikon raw files directly into the program and save the completed stack to a 16 bit TIFF that can then be edited in LR or PS. I am very happy with this software. More people should know about it.
Brilliant

I own and have been using a big name image stacking program that has lots of bells and whistles and some advanced retouching tools. But I find I'm using this little APP more and more. It's fast, very accurate and offers sufficient retouching for the errors I need to correct. It has NEVER made the sort of mess that I need to retouch using the big-name program. Just great. Hope the developer will keep it up to date as Apple changes the OS (all the time!).
Does what it says on the tin.

This is one of those cases where you need a single specific function, something missing from so many so-called pro photo apps, and you seek out an app to acomplish this task, buy it, drag the images in, click save. Done. Just fantastic work. Thanks!
Amazing!

So, i was a little apprehensive about this app as there isn't much on the internet about it (that i could find). I wanted something that was easier to retouch than Photoshop, but was amazed at how well it does the initial stack (using a Tripod in my case). Worth every cent.
- This is a maintenance and bug fix release.
