Edit many tracks side-by-side, mix them together, and export to Wave or MP4 format — then transfer them to your computer, send them to another app on your device, or upload to cloud services.
Hokusai is streamlined to give you a clean, clear view of your tracks. Use the familiar pinch and swipe gestures to zoom right in and fiddle with fine detail, or step back to see the big picture. Select pieces of audio. Live "scrubbing" means you can hear the sound under your fingertip as you make your adjustments. And you needn't fear a bad edit with our full undo/redo support — even after closing your project.
Hokusai comes free with a set of useful tools such as fade in/out, normalise volume levels, reverse time, and basic synthesis. If you need more power, you can upgrade from inside the app to add new tools and effects, including: Per-track volume/mute/panning, selecting across multiple tracks at once, presets and favourites, grain synthesis, noise gating, time-stretching, pitch-bending, echo, reverb, modulation (AM & FM), resonance, distortion, grunge, vocal levelling, monster voice, high/low/band-pass/notch-cut filter and more — many of which can be previewed live.

Great app, though it has a smalll but annoying bug
If I turn on “show suggested and recent app” from the ipad setting, then this app always creates an extra ghost icon on the dock in the portrait mode.

Hi! That does sound like it would be distracting — unfortunately it's not something I can help you with, as apps don't control what shows up in that space on the iPad's Dock, it's part of Siri's recommendations. You could try restarting your iPad (https://support.apple.com/ht201559) but otherwise I think you'd need to contact Apple support about iPad Dock-related issues. But if you have any issues with Hokusai itself, please don't hesistate to get in touch!
Excellent for my simple needs
I need little more than cut, paste and trim, for ease of which this app beats all others I have tried over the years. There is a reassuring attention to detail evident in the developer’s documentation and web site, which is often a measure of the reliability and quality of an app’s coding. Email support is prompt and efficient and the developer has not incorporated annoying ads or pop-ups. All good reason to strongly recommend this free app and justify the optional outlay for its many upgrade features.
Does what no other can
I need to take stereo files, and create a single mono track from one of the L/R channels. This allows me to do this. It allows allows me to change format from wav file to mp3 file, which for my purposes is what I need. I am an instrumental tutor trying to use an iPad in my lessons and the limitations of apps as opposed to software on a laptop have almost forced me back to the laptop. But apps like this are proving that I can do all the work I need to do on an iPad. Thanks so much
