HP Easy Scan 4+

What a dog this is on Catalina. Used to work, now won't Either in the HP Easy Scan mode nor the automatic mode of the HP 5220. Print mode works fine so the issue isn't one of communication between Mac and Printer/Scanner. Tried multiple reboots.

when scanning, an error message on scanner saying 'software is needed. When using Easy Scan, error message of ' nothing in auto feed' despite me wanting to scan from flatbed.

Numerous comments on bulletin boards that my issue is a common one since Catalina. The recommended fix is to use Image Capture on your Mac, which is HP surrendering, saying they have zero interest in fixing their issue.

The app itself is straightforward, lolol i cant believe im reviewing an app jkjkjk, anyways the app itself is good though when i updated to big sur i was getting an error that said something like "Error, you do not have permission to use HP Easy Scanner 3.", for a few days i thought it was something else, but then i realised that it was the software. Though there are numerous forums online that could probably assist you.

Printing works fine, but I bought a 'MULTI FUNCTION' device.. which has a scanner built in. this was not a cheap device, a colour laserjet Pro.

Nothing I do seems to make this thing work, the HP software simply cannot connect to the Scanner, even if directly connected to my recently bought Mac Powerbook running the latest MacOS.

Easay device integration was one of the reasons I 'went Mac', so far it's been a dissaapointment, my 5 year old windows laptop can connect to this thing and scan no problems.. so why am I still using the Mac?
