Ratings and Reviews
Bugs
Pioneer make a great system and this app works generally very well. Their are however a few bugs that need to be fixed and updates are virtually non existent. I have three zones in my house and when you try to play music in zones two or three it will change zone one without being asked, this is a problem if someone is watching TV in zone 1 when all of a sudden music comes through at a deafening level. The app also allows you to change input names but for whatever reason they do not stick and will revert back to defaults.
Nice ... but too hard to use for everyday playback
This app looks nice and makes some rarely-used & difficult operations easier, but it makes everyday use really hard. It could do with a quick redesign using Apple's philosophy of hiding complexity with simplicity. Currently it looks and feels like a full-on techo app. This particularly applies to the 'Control' panel which will be used the most. At this stage I'll stick with the standard remote control unless the app's improved.
-- The volume control occupies a disproportionate area of ths display and is hard to use. You have to perform many rotations to change the volume a lot - it doesn't take speed into account. It would be much easier to just select the desired volume on the circular display around the knob.
-- The selection list that's displayed when in media library or usb/iphone mode is way too small. Scrolling through an entire media library with just 3 lines showing in the list is ridiculous. This area should be larger or auto-expand when selected to allow a nice view. This feature was my single biggest reason for wanting to download this app, so I could give my wife an easy way to play songs from our media server. The layout used by the iPad music player shows how it should be done. Even the iPhone does better with it's much smaller screen space.
By the way, the demo mode doesn't include an input for a tuner. Would be nice to include this, given the extensive range of other inputs shown.
Must be improved
Clunky, slow and version for ipad no longer connects to amp, whilst lower res iPhone app does!
Not worth downloading if pioneer don't support updates
