The positives of this app are abundant: in comparison to its free competitors such as My Fitness Pal, the interface is much easier to use, less clinical and sterile in appearance, and is quite cute and motivating. The daily lessons included in this app are wonderful, as they are short but useful, and provide an informed perspective on nutrition that exceed the usual, blunt ‘eat less, move more’ advice. The advice takes into account process of building habits and how understanding the reasons for healthy behaviours will assist in effectively and sustainably applying them. I have taken a star off as, much like other reviews, the search function, particularly barcode scanning and taking photos of food, is not the most reliable and you should be diligent in figuring out the nutritional info of your food yourself rather than relying on the search. It can be a good general guide, especially for raw foods, but when it comes to scanning something, eg. when I scanned canned tuna, it did not get the calories or serving size correct. However, I believe those flaws are present in most apps of this kind and while this app is quite expensive, I’ve found it to be quite helpful in sticking to my goals. I do believe that for the price, the search function should be much more reliable, but if you have a bit of money to spend and are struggling with your nutrition, it will help you.
