UPDATE— can’t even begin with this developer. Original response to my original was to ask me to email them with my concerns. Do more for you, hey? Lo and behold, they email me later saying they didn’t hear from me. So, you had my details available all along and expect me to do all the work to write to you again what I’ve expressed clearly here. Also—last time this app was updated was 10 months ago when they announced the extra charges. So much for always updating, fixing and adding things. Beware the cash grabbers!!!!! ORIGINAL—Sadly I can’t reconcile my feelings of being siphoned by an app developer. Like many others commenting here, I bought this app outright years ago after a lot of research and comparison, testing of recipe apps. Only to be informed that they want me to pay again. And again. And again! Every month or every year—the choice is mine; how considerate. Or I could get a lifetime subscription for $65–will you be around in several years still, or will you change the rules of the game again then, too? I suppose the way to sweeten this bitter aftertaste is to offer one year free. What a great idea in the boardroom as we discuss how to win dollars and alienate people. How about asking your faithful users who gave you their hard-earned dollars when you were starting out to help you spread the word far and wide? To be brand advocates instead of dissenters. Do I want to give even $2 or so a month to people who think this is a way to do business, to treat customers who’ve been with them a long time? No thanks— I’m voting with my feet.
Hi Runoutofideas, we cannot access your information from your review and therefore do not have your details nor know your CookBook contact details. The email you would have received is from the app store forwarding our review reply to you, which asked you to send us an email to support@thecookbookapp.com.If you did contact us when originally leaving your review, we would have already provided you with a solution and made things right for you, however we have not received anything from you so our second reply to your review was us trying to help by reminding you to get in touch. In December 2021, we released our highly requested brand new web app which is included as part of all customers plans for no extra charge, unlike almost every other recipe app who charge for this in addition. We have also built brand new PDF layouts & recipe cards which have been released and are available in the web app, they will also be available in the phone app in the coming release.Alongside this, we have been updating a lot of our back end systems and working on improving our OCR workflow, shopping list categorisation/merging and adding brand new recipe fields, including a highly requested star rating. All of this is in production, being developed and tested so it's ready for our next big update due out in the next few weeks. So as you can see, we most definitely have been developing CookBook since announcing the change a year ago. Developing apps and web apps take time, especially when you are a very small team and do not have the luxury of having big teams of developers. As before, if you'd like to send us an email with your CookBook details, we would be happy to provide you with a solution for you to continue using CookBook.
