After buying a Chigee 6, at first I used google maps, then I took internet advice and tried Calimoto. It was fine at first, but after a while I started noticing bugs, and the routes were leading me off path through a housing area to go back to the main route again. It lead me to some dangerous roads to roads that did not exist, and I found myself stuck in a thorn field alone in no where Peru. The app does not know the correct speed limits so the estimations of journey times are off severely, and it told me the speed limit through a large town was 120kph. I had to lay 13 through points to get a route down 2 roads to a town, and even then it took unnecessary detours, the offline maps require exact addresses to find a route, if the gps is switched of then on the app doesn’t know the speed for over 10 minutes, even though the Chigee does, coming to a difficult intersection the map says small and leads to mistakes, and many other annoying things.I have mentioned the problems with the app to the help people, but rather than solutions, I am told why the app doesn’t work properly, which is useless as I I want a working map. I have also asked for a refund for the faulty app but am told since I passes the 2 week test time I am note trapped into owning this faulty product and cannot get a refund. Stick with google maps!
Hi,thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I am genuinely sorry to read about your experience and especially concerned by the situations you describe. Feeling unsafe or misled while navigating is absolutely not what calimoto should ever cause.calimoto is designed to prioritize scenic and curvy roads, and in some regions, especially outside Europe, the quality of underlying map data can unfortunately vary a lot. That said, being guided onto roads that do not exist or into potentially dangerous situations is something we take very seriously. Your report clearly goes beyond minor inconvenience, and I fully understand your frustration.Regarding speed limits, ETA inaccuracies, offline routing behavior, and the need for many via points, these are known challenges that depend heavily on local map data and device setup, but that does not make the experience any less frustrating when you are on the road. I am also sorry if our previous replies felt like explanations rather than real help. Our goal is always to find solutions, not just to justify limitations.Concerning refunds, subscriptions are indeed handled by the respective app stores and are subject to their policies, which is why we are limited after the initial trial period. That said, this does not mean we want to leave you with a bad experience or feeling ignored.I would really like us to look into your case properly. If you are open to it, please contact us directly via our contact form or at support@calimoto.com, ideally referencing this review. This allows us to review your specific routes, region, and setup in detail and see what we can realistically do to help.Thank you again for your honesty. Feedback like this is uncomfortable to read, but it is important and helps us improve.Kind regards,
