With content from big names like National Geographic, this app teaches early literacy, language and maths, as well and social and emotional skills, throughout its more than 1,000 games, videos and stories.

Anything produced by Khan Academy is excellent. One small notable error though is when counting more than one item on a page. If kids accidentally tap more than once on an item (such as toddlers repeatedly tapping), the item then de-presses/ de-selects, reverting the count back to zero. They then try to click another item to count (the second item of whatever), but the count is again at “one” or zero. The task isn’t being understood and is lost on the young ones. Might be best to set this so any one single tap on the countable item, permanently holds that item as being ‘counted’, and would save a lot of confusion. In all, there are far more benefits from this App than can be described here!

Engaging program

As both a mum and Early a childhood teacher I was looking for a fun and engaging program for my child. We chose Khan academy because it is research based and has adaptive features. The program is free so you can actually try it before committing and making a donation. Our daughter is in kindy and sits happily engaged for 45 minutes to an hour. We like the fact there are no pop up adds or interruptions to learning. We plan to make a donation so that the Khan academy can continue to provide a great maths/literacy/logic program.

I just can’t believe this amazing app content is free. The content is extremely high quality and perfect for 2-4yrs. Covers counting, letters, emotions, shapes and is fun and engaging. The UI is easy for small hands and easy to follow. The free colouring-in is also great. In my opinion the contents of the program rivals ABC reading eggs junior program (paid program). The look of the app (graphics) is very modern and smooth (compared to dated reading eggs). Overall a fantastic program that I would happily pay for. 100% recommend.
