BeReal was great until they added private message feature

I will still use this all because I like being real and seeing what my friends are up to, and that’s what made this app unique. But in their recent update adding the private message feature, it now feels like any other social media app where you can DM friends. The good design of the one post a day (with the added bonus for on time posting which I like because it gets people posting more on time) now has this feature which can turn it into an app which you will spend more time on- like we need more time on social media! I don’t think people will use it all that much since Instagram and Snapchat still exist, although fb messenger is by far superior.Anyway, I love the concept of the app but not the new feature of DMs
Gets worse every single update

This app literally gets worse every single update. I’m actually thinking now that this might all be an experiment to see how long it takes, like how many bad updates it takes to make all the users remove themselves from the app altogether. Most of my friends have deleted the app and I am going to too. I started using the app back in 2022 when it started and it was good fun. Like, you could see your BeReal first and scroll down to see every single one of your friends one by one or you could scroll up and you would see like a nice little mosaic of all your friends BeReal at once. All of that has been gone now to put more ads (and bad ones on top of that) every two BeReal. Where is your own BeReal ? Lost in the feed, good luck going through all of them to find it. You also get unsolicited political bereal (srsly??????) and there is no way for you to unsubscribe to that. I’ve tried reporting it. I’ve tried deleting the political person, no way. Nothing works. Same thing with the recaps: 2022 recap was fine then it got worse every single year. Everyone seems to complain about that in the reviews but nothing’s changing. Most of my friends have deleted it and I was keeping it just for the recaps but since nothing’s changing I’m just gonna delete it too. So long byyyyeee
Hate the new update’s look because non functional for smaller phone screens

The new update makes everything, (mainly the BeReal) bigger but what it doesn’t consider is smaller phones. I have a smaller phone and now there’s no space on my screen for the comment button or the reaction selfies. This is because the bar at the bottom of the screen where the camera, explore, chat, profile and home buttons are; is now blocking the comment button and reaction selfies. And I can’t scroll down a little bit to reach them either. If I could scroll down a bit to reach them it would be fine, but when I scroll it goes straight to the next BeReal and I can’t react with any other reaction selfies apart from the heart eyes emoji because of the double tap function. I can’t even add an instant reaction. Another fault I found is when I saw my own BeReal, I noticed that I couldn’t add a caption or tag anyone because the buttons were hidden by the bar at the bottom. I would prefer there be an option to stay with the older layout, or fix the screen layout so I can actually use BeReal normally again. With old layout, BeReal is four stars, but this layout I’m tempted to put one star. It certainly isn’t quicker or easier. It is slower and very frustrating.
