Overall a fantastic oven that I’d recommend but the app lets it down sometimes. There’s still problems where previous recipes don’t work so you have to re-create them. Sometimes it gets confused and just doesn’t work. I’d also love if the oven was easier to clean in some way - like a self cleaning function.

Plus: Has some good basic buttons that are easy enough to navigate, and can control the oven well from the app. I like that I can add my own recipes.Minus: Whilst I like that I can add my own recipes, as recipes rely on the community who use the app, it would be vastly improved if recipes could be posted and shared via the app (I’ve contacted anova and can’t get an accurate answer on this), and if the recipe functionality allowed a timer to be set as part of the relevant step, not as an added step. Another big down fall is the oven has 12 separate quick start functionalities, but only 7 appear in the app. I can't seem to contact anova via the app either.

Iphone 11 Pro Max talks to it just fine. One hiccup in installing; told me to turn off Bluetooth and try again. I did and it worked perfectly. Now it’s on the home wifi and working perfectly. The app is worth it just for the one touch preheat-from-factory-to-burn-off-the-coatings process. This is three separate processes manually but one touch in my phone. Nice set up all round.
Loses Custom Recipes. Burns Food. Subscription for an oven.

The app has overridden my custom recipes several times over the past few years. Replacing all of my carefully created multi-stage cooks with untimed stages at 225 degrees C.It’s a very, very poor bit of engineering. At best you notice and catch it when the oven takes longer or quicker to preheat. At worst you burn your food to a crisp or start a fire.I also don’t know why it insists on starting every stage with sous vide mode on. It’s not that common a cooking method and it’s more annoying to have to undo it each time it deletes your own recipes.They even changed to a subscription to use the app for a four figure kitchen appliance. Can you use it without it? Yes but it clearly was not designed for manual use in mind with its very, very bad physical interface and you cannot do multi stage cooking which is one of the biggest selling points for this product.
