This app is very powerful. It’s no toy, despite the cheap price.I animate in Moho on Mac, and will continue to do so for my “serious” work. I only bought this because it was so cheap. Nevertheless, I have grown to love it already and am enjoying using it to doodle out ideas. I feel that it will become an integral part of what I do, much as Procreate is. It’s so nice to be able to freely sketch out ideas on an iPad before being shackled to a desk to do the final animation. Not that you can’t create polished animations with ToonSquid; it’s just that I am already heavily invested in Moho.I wish the developer every success. ToonSquid deserves to become the Procreate of the animation world.
woes and wins of toonsquid
duck1e.6
i would like to start that i am a beginner animator and toonsquid has helped me far more then any free animation app ive tried, that being said it isnt any holy holy grail but its definitely a solid choice. a few things i dont like about the app are the lack of a ruler feature and the fact you cannot colour/add onto the animations background. i love making unique and special cool looking backgrounds with dynamic shapes and textures but i have to use a completely separate layer if i wish to colour/alter said background. its annoying for longer term scenes and as someone who values a clean clean layout it doesnt sit right that the actual background isnt on the same layer as the base background. with the wish for a ruler tool, i have incredibly shaky hands and i cannot draw circles and squares evenly enough which frustrates me to no end. while i get toonsquid is BUILT for experienced artists who can draw squares and circles well enough it isnt made for people with shaky hands/fingers without a ruler tool. also there are some lag issues (i dont know if its lag, i did just start using it) with my layers switching randomly to a different one which really confuses me and forces me to start over on a certain part when i draw because the layer switched to another while i drew it. all that being said, i like how straightforward toonsquid is and it was very easy for me to understand.

I’ve found this to be easily the best animation software for iPad. It feels like it’s been made by someone who actually animates, but more importantly, someone who actually uses their own software to animate. It is so intuitive and familiar, any time I found myself asking “I wonder if it has-“ the answer was almost always: yes. It does. Of course it does, because familiarity with an animator’s workflow and needs have been considered. Powerful and yet lightweight. Runs like a charm.Would love to see mirror tools implemented in the future, for both drawing and bones.
One of the best animation apps
gdbshdh
Honestly one of the best animation apps and never regretted purchasing this. It’s everything I needed in a na animation app with really good friendly UI fit for mobile devices or a tablet. Has so many features definitely worth the price as well as always backing up your projects.Update : I’ve came across a bug whenever I duplicated a project it would be an error now and then,
- Fixed a bug in 2.0.26 that caused the selected drawing layer to change when deleting, cutting or copying a selection region of a layer.
