This app has everything I was looking for and I love its simple design. It’s also really easy to use and set up and the fact you can import recipes from multiple place including scanning books is so great. Love that you can have multiple recipe books and have the option to share them! The groceries lists are great in that when you tick something off it doesn’t disappear from your list so you don’t need to keep adding things each time. You can also have multiple lists which is handy if you don’t do your shop all at one shop. It would be great if you could have the option to move items between shopping lists as sometimes when adding items, they don’t go into the right list if you have multiple grocery lists. I’d also love it if the untucked grocery items from a list were all listed at the top when you use the ‘ungroup’ option in the grocery list as it would make shopping a lot easier! Otherwise it’s a great app :)
Thank you so much for your review! I love your suggestion about using tags to add recipes to meal plans. I'll also look into the importing issues. If you have any other ideas or requests, feel free to email me at jeff@umami.recipes - Jeff
Fantastic recipe app, constantly improving!

I’ve been using Umami for a while now, and it’s become one of my favourite apps. The support from the actual developer is fantastic. He’s responsive, helpful, and clearly passionate about improving the app. Importing recipes is effortless. I’ve pulled in tons from Instagram & TikTok, and even digitised old cookbook recipes just by taking a photo. You can also add recipes easily from your computer, which is super handy. My kids & husband all access the app, so they can check what’s for dinner each week without asking me. The automatic grocery lists are a good time saver. I use Umami every fortnight when planning our meals, and it has made the whole process much simpler and more organised.I purchased the lifetime option, and it’s honestly one of the best value app purchases I’ve made!
The best around

I’ve used Cookbook app for many years and yes it works for what I’m using it (somewhat, some gripes with it but it works) for but annoys me that I have to pay yearly. So looked around for another recipe management app that’s cheaper and better and Umami definitely delivers on both fronts!! Love the timer function when cooking, so much easier than setting timer with Siri. Importing is a breeze from websites- only comment is it doesn’t import recipe notes. Importing is accurate. Also importing from an actual cookbook is accurate to which is not the case at all times with Cookbook app. Another feature that can be improved is the photos, photos are cropped when uploaded which is annoying but not a deal breaker. Very easy to use and interface is aesthetically pleasing. Please do not discontinue app! Thank you!!!
