Nice Looking, but....

Push notifications and sounds for this app don't work on my iPad. This may not be the developer's fault, but still, they're advertising features that aren't available, and, quite frankly, the absence of these features makes the app almost useless to me.Also, when I receive a new message I always have to scroll down to view it. Should be able to switch between ascending/descending thread, or have the thread auto-scroll to a new message.Maybe these issues are addressed in the paid version, but if notifications are supposed to be part of the lite version, who's to say they also don't work in the paid version? I refuse to pay the oversized price tag for an application that may or may not work as advertised.

I've just switched over to IM+ lite v2 and so far the experience has been great. I was using fring for gtalk and msn but while the app itself did was it supposed to do the adverts annoyed the he'll out of me. I know the upgrade now in IM+ is there but it doesn't bother me as much as the fring adverts.Anyway, the smoother/nicer interface of IM+ lite is a welcoming change for me. I've tried palringo and fring, but IM+ definitely looks and feels the best. It works and the app itself doesn't feel so clunky unlike others. No performance issues from my end either, I use this for gtalk and msn. I'll be waiting out for any solutions over devs out there after OS3 comes out to the public an will be committing to the one that offers the best features.

IM+ shows a lot of promise - its interface is cleaner, more logical and easier on the eye than Palringo, and unlike Palrobgo you don't have to sign up for a service to use it. It needs some polishing touches before I would use it as an everyday IM app - at the moment, the contact list doesn't differentiate at all between contacts from different services (I use Windows Live and AOL/iChat), and the in-chat display is very primitive - your messages just show up in plain text, no boxes or speech bubbles or contact icons or anything. Plus, as other have mentioned, it doesn't make any sound or vibrate when a message is received, and the connection can be unreliable. All very fixable problems. I look forward to the next update.
