Would like to see an newer version with an updated UI and more functionality around filtering and how read posts are handled. Works well however.
Easy to use and easy to view

The last RSS feeder I used was NetNewsWire on a G4 Mac Mini running OS X 10.4.8. It was pretty good but then I started using the RSS features within Firefox. I've now got an i5 Mac Mini running Mountain Lion and using Safari. I had to dive back into the world of RSS apps because Safari does not have a built in one. I decided on NewsBar because of the price and the screenshot and reviews. I installed it today and within five minutes I had a functional, easy to understand news feeder that I could modify easily and add feeds to quickly. I really like it. It's simple, easy to use and easy to view.

Having used it for a few days now, I’m changing my original review. It seems that folders can be collapsed, in a way, by leaving the news feeds within it unselected for the side bar. Also, the full article can be read for many sites from within the preview window without having to open the browser. I was wrong on that complaint too. So all in all, a great newsreader. Worth the money.
Useful for highlighting stories based on keywords

I bought this app to help me spot stories based on keywords, something that seems to be surprisingly lacking in most RSS feed readers. This app is sort of designed like a Twitter client that you might leave open on the side of your screen; as such, it's not good for powering through hundreds of items in one go on a daily basis. However, that would change if the developers added a keystroke that let you navigate up and down along the feed, marking as read as you go. Currently, you must click on each story to read it, which is very inefficient.
