Yoink simplifies and improves drag and drop between windows, apps, spaces and fullscreen apps, by providing a temporary "shelf" for your files and app-content.
It frees up your mouse, enabling you to navigate more comfortably to the destination of your files.
When you start dragging files in Finder or content from an application, Yoink fades in at the edge of your screen, allowing you to drag to it.
While Yoink is holding on to your files for you, you can more easily and comfortably navigate to the destination of your files, without having to keep the mouse button clicked the entire time.
Overview of Yoink's main features:
- A "shelf" at the edge of your screen for files and app-content you'd like to move or copy, which behaves like Finder (regarding moving and copying)

Been Using for years

By far the most easiest,most convienient and easiest copy/paste app I have ever used. Sometimes I have kept certain constantly used snippets, logos, profile pictures for a year or more until I update the bits and pieces that become out of date. Drag and Drop fantastic. Ideal for filing forms out, adding to Data bases without using combo bowes and the like and using on spreadsheets. I also through notes save sets of like data that I then transfer to Yoink when needed. Tis not that dificult to set up a shortcut to do this automatically. Suggest this app to beginners up to professioans. Well done Eternal Storms Software

I've been using Yoink for several months now and, unlike many utilities I've tried, I *actually* use it every day. My use is to collect file(s) temporarily while I prepare an email or text message, or go to a forum upload form etc. I'm pretty good at dragging objects between tasks using cmd-tab but I still find myself using Yoink. It's a good helper for me. I've set it to just show if I drag something down to the bottom left corner of my screen and it's really unobtrusive. Thanks for a great app!

Initially I bought this as it was recommended by a youtuber and I wasn’t sure how useful it would be but it turns out to be really handy. If you have a 27' mac perhaps less so but on a MacBook with the limited screen real estate it’s a no brainer. Highly recommended! Also the developer has written a automator action, available on his website, that will automatically add to Yoink any file added to a specified folder. I use this to automatically add screenshots to Yoink. Just so handy, thank you Matthias!

The best part about this app, having it used it for several years now, is that gradual improvements to the settings and the interface, show that keeping the app up to date, functional and innovative appears to be first and foremost on the developer's minds. Where other apps of its kind have gradually succumbed to ad-heavy or subscription based models, Yoink's function has reliably remained the same, meaning it's an app I'll ALWAYS have installed on my Macs.
Yoink v3.7.6 (2026.07.31) contains the following improvements and bug fixes:

- Improves subtitled menu items (i.e. in the Clipboard History menu) on macOS 14.4 and later
- Improved file names for files dragged from browsers
- Improved compatibility with the Dia browser
- Improved compatibility with the Vivaldi browser
- Improves the reliability of drags from Yoink
- Improves the QuickLook panel size for log files (i.e. .crash, .log, .ips)
= BUG FIXES =
- Fixes a bug where under rare circumstances two Yoink windows would appear – one rendered weirdly. Especially when launched via the app’s services.
- Fixes a problem with the “Open With” menu in some translations
- Improved some strings
