Worst experience from first day itself

Download the app based on reviews and setup was quite easy. Within minutes I was about to send my first transfer to overseas. However the app kept cancelling my payments within one minute. No specific reason was provided but only a list of possible reasons leaving me to guess why. I provided all my legal information including my passport number to assist with validation. On the next day the app prompted me to login again. I mistakenly typed my first password but was successful in my second attempt. I then got the message that my account was de activated. I was given the chance to request for reactivation however it was denied. When I rang customer service, they also could not provide me any valid reasons as to why my account was denied reactivation. I totally understand the sensitivity around financial transactions and precautions needed around potential fraudulent activities. However, when you have a genuine customer who has genuinely doing the right thing but denied service and then not told why and then to be deactivated once and for all, you cannot help but feel how low and disregarded you are by this company is when it comes to customer service. There’s just no service and I’d go back to using other amazing apps like WireBarley. You’ve not only lost a customer, Remitly, you’ve made them feel like they’re nothing but worthless.

Worse Customer Services Ever

Remitly has left me with nothing but utter disappointment and frustration. I contacted customer service because my transaction was on hold, only to endure an agonizing 30-minute wait for someone to finally answer. And what did I get for my patience? A curt response informing me that my account is now suspended and will be permanently closed. To make matters worse, I was told I’d never be allowed to open another account again.All this because I dared to buy goods for a friend—something they deemed a violation of their rules. Apparently, helping someone else by purchasing good for them is a cardinal sin in their eyes. When I tried to reason with them, saying I could redirect the money to my own account and personally buy the food for my friend, the representative couldn’t be bothered to listen. Instead, they robotically repeated that I had violated their policy.The lack of empathy, understanding, and basic human decency was staggering. It felt like the representative was more interested in rushing through the call than actually addressing my concerns. If I could remember their name, I’d plaster it here for everyone to know who not to deal with. Seriously, what kind of customer service is this? Cold, dismissive, and downright useless. Remitly, your service is a joke, and your approach to customer care is trash. Worst experience ever.

The customer service representative saulo/saolu is very arrogant and not helpful, not willing to tell me the reason why my transfer was declined and said that “Remitly MERELY relys on family and friends recommendations” after I said I wasn’t satisfied with the service and would not recommend my family and friends to use it. Even more, right after saying that, he/she directly ended our live chat without waiting for my response. And as a result, unfortunately I couldn’t download the chat history, otherwise I would be more than happy to remember the name of this customer service representative clearly and show you how rude I was treated. I am keep my words by sharing my experience with Remitly especially the customer service experience on google review, app review, trust pilots review and with my friends and family. If Remitly only values business customers who transfer a large amount of money in one transaction, why bother to ask us to refer our friend and family by advertising the bonus??? To me, $20 referral bonus wouldn’t be attractive enough to ignore the disgusting experience with your customer service representative Saulo or Saolu. If you are thinking about engaging the service of Remitly, THINK TWICE, unless you are fine with not being respected by them.
