This update renames the app to FairwayFX and refreshes the app branding/metadata. Core functionality remains the same: users can record or import golf videos, use on-device AI ball tracking, customize the visual trace, and export/share the finished video.

- App renaming to avoid confusion with other brands

Premium recap exports — Exporting Hole Builder recap videos is now part of the premium export experience. Improved startup stability — Fixed a rare crash that could occur while the app was launching.

Create custom highlight videos of your best golf holes. Select which holes to include, trim individual clips, add scored overlays with course and tee information, and export polished recaps to share with friends.

More reliable video imports — Clips from your gallery with unusual frame-rate data no longer crash during ball tracking, so more of your recordings just work. Smoother, more stable tracing — Resolved several freezes and crashes across ball selection, video playback, and onboarding for a more dependable experience, especially on older devices. Better camera handling — Devices without a camera now show a clear message instead of a confusing error. Low-storage warnings — Importing a video when your device is low on space now warns you upfront instead of failing partway through.

Smoother video export — Fixed hangs and progress stalls when saving your traced shots, so exports finish reliably. More reliable gallery imports — Importing large videos from your photo library no longer freezes or crashes when you tap quickly or import big clips. Clearer storage warnings — When you’re low on space, you now get a helpful “not enough storage” message instead of a confusing error or crash. Steadier tracing setup — Fixed a crash during landing confirmation and a layout glitch on smaller screens for a smoother tracing flow.

Trim longer clips — The 15-second trim limit is gone, so you can save and export longer shots while still rendering the tracer cleanly. Fading tracer — A new, adjustable setting lets the tracer fade away a few seconds after the ball lands for a cleaner finish. More accurate tracing — Smarter early-flight tracking hugs your shot line and rejects background noise, so traces stay locked on the ball even on angled shots. Easier trace editing — A new magnifier loupe and auto-hiding controls make it simple to place and fine-tune your points, even right at the edges of the video. Stability improvements — Fixed a range of crashes across video processing, model loading, and the paywall for a smoother, more reliable experience.

Redesigned tracer effects — A new step-by-step editor walks you through style, color, and finishing touches so dialing in the perfect shot trail is faster and clearer than ever. Solid and gradient color modes — Switch freely between solid and multi-color tracers, with previews and exports now rendering exactly the same colors along the path. Smoother Comet trails — The Comet effect now tapers cleanly along the shot path in both preview and exported videos for a more polished look.

Post-apex continuation controls — Fine-tune how your tracer continues after the ball’s peak, so the line lands exactly where you want it. Polished tracer style controls — Thickness, front-fade, and end-fade sliders are dialed in for consistent, great-looking exports.

Smarter Tracing Setup — A new impact-first setup flow makes auto-tracing quicker, and you can now skip stabilization when your video was shot on a tripod. More Natural Ball Trajectories — Improved physics keeps the traced ball on a believable arc through the apex and descent, even when the ball briefly leaves the frame.

Auto Trace setup guide — A new first-time guide shows the ideal camera setup and white-ball requirement, with a manual tracing fallback always one tap away. Sharper 4K tracing — Tracing and the trajectory overlay now render correctly on 4K footage. Smoother gallery imports — Large videos import without freezing, and unavailable cloud videos show a clear prompt instead of failing silently. More reliable ball detector — Low-storage devices recover gracefully from interrupted setup and fall back to manual tracing when needed. Fewer crashes and hangs — Hardened onboarding, camera startup, tracing, and network retries to eliminate a wide range of stability issues.

Faster, more reliable startup — Fixed app hangs during launch and onboarding so you get into the camera quicker. Smarter Photos access — The app no longer asks for photo-library access up front, and now properly supports limited and save-only access modes. More reliable on slow networks — When the swing-detection model can’t finish downloading, the app now recovers automatically in the background instead of getting stuck.

Stabilized handheld tracers — Tracers stay locked to the scene even when your phone shakes, with smooth playback, accurate ball overlap, and a progress bar while stabilization runs. High-drive support — Edit and trace shots whose apex rises above the visible frame without your control points snapping back into view. Smarter off-screen tracking — The tracker now recognizes when the ball exits and re-enters the frame, producing more accurate trajectories on long shots. Improved reliability — Fixes a range of crashes and out-of-memory errors during recording, trimming, and tracing for a smoother, more dependable experience.

- Tracing behavior is back to the v1.7.0 implementation instead of the newer dense/global auto-trace system. - Camera recording defaults back to 120fps when supported, instead of preferring 60fps.

Smarter Auto-Trace — Completely rebuilt tracing engine analyzes your entire video to find the best ball trajectory, delivering more accurate and reliable shot traces. Better Launch Detection — Improved ball tracking right off the tee with smarter candidate scoring and search, so traces start cleanly from the moment of impact. Consistent Results Across Frame Rates — Auto-trace now works reliably whether your video is 30fps, 60fps, 120fps, or 240fps.

Smoother tracer lines — Redesigned line rendering with tapered width, smooth fade transitions, and a soft leading edge for a more polished tracer effect. Better tracking through trees and obstacles — The ball tracker now rides through brief occlusions like branches and visual clutter instead of losing the shot. Step-by-step permissions setup — A new guided flow walks you through camera and library permissions one at a time before your first recording. Accurate video trimming — The trim preview now matches the actual exported clip, so what you see is exactly what you get. Smaller app, smarter updates — The ML model now downloads on demand instead of shipping inside the app, keeping the install size smaller and enabling model improvements without app updates.

Trace Quality Feedback — After auto-tracing a shot, you’ll see a quick thumbs-up/thumbs-down prompt so you can tell us how the trace looked. Share Great Shots — Tap thumbs-up and optionally share your traced video with us to be featured in marketing. Help Us Improve — Tap thumbs-down and optionally share your video along with notes about what went wrong, so we can improve ball tracking.

Smarter ball tracking — A new lookahead algorithm evaluates multiple detection paths before committing, significantly reducing tracking errors from false detections. Better tracking through obstructions — Improved tolerance for momentary ball occlusion (like trees or clouds), especially in high frame rate videos. Live tracking progress — You can now see real-time visual feedback as the tracker explores detection candidates, so the app never feels frozen during tracing.
