What a great idea! An amazing app!
What a great idea! An amazing app!
Bring a mate — plus fixes off the back of early rider feedback.
- Bring a Mate — every member now has a unique referral code you can share via the native share sheet, WhatsApp, or on the socials. When a mate you brought in stays active for 30 days, you unlock the exclusive Founding Referrer badge on your profile. No cap — as many mates as you can rally.
- Navigate on CarPlay / Android Auto is now easy to find on saved routes. The button sits right below the map and, on Android, sends the whole route (with waypoints) to Google Maps so your car's head unit draws the full path. Apple Maps still sees just the endpoint (its limitation).
- Full-screen map while following a saved route. The weather forecast is now a small tap-to-expand pill that hides completely when you hit Start Following.
- Fixed: older saved routes were showing "Route data missing" on the Follow screen. Now they draw properly.
- Fixed: the Follow screen was cutting off at the bottom on some phones. Everything scrolls cleanly now.
Cheers to Pmac and the closed-testing crew for the sharp feedback.

1) WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION (App Store listing)
Quick bug-fix release from 1.0.43 based on early rider feedback.
- Full-screen map when following a planned route. The weather forecast on the Follow screen now starts as a small tap-to-expand pill so it never blocks the map. As soon as you tap Start Following, the pill disappears entirely and the map fills the screen edge-to-edge for a cleaner, driver-friendly view.
- Older saved routes now open correctly. If you had planned routes from a previous version that only stored waypoints (not the full driving line), tapping Follow on Map now draws them properly instead of showing "Route data missing".
Thanks to everyone who reported these — keep the feedback coming.

What's new in Auswide Adventures 1.0.43
Badges and Milestones — 18 new badges tracking your kilometres, trips, adventures conquered, and Auswide membership tenure. Badges auto-award as you ride and back-fill for existing riders who already hit the milestones.
3-Day Weather Forecast — Temperature range, rain probability, and wind on planned routes and adventure detail pages, so you can plan around the mud or the heat before you leave. Powered by Open-Meteo, cached briefly for speed.
SOS Button — Long-press the SOS button on the Record screen to grab your current GPS position and open the Messages composer with your coordinates plus Google Maps and Apple Maps links already filled in. You pick the recipient and hit Send. In real emergencies, always call 000 first.
In-Ride Photo Pins — Snap geo-tagged photos mid-ride. Each pin sticks to your GPS track and travels with your trip's GPX export.
GPX Export — Share your recorded rides as standard GPX files via the native share sheet. Compatible with Gaia GPS, OsmAnd, Garmin BaseCamp, and other 4WD community apps.
Navigate on CarPlay and Android Auto — Adventure Detail, Follow Ride, and Planned Ride now include a "Navigate on CarPlay" (iOS) or "Navigate on Android Auto" (Android) button that hands the destination to Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze. Turn-by-turn appears on your car's head unit if the device is connected.
Plus general polish, faster forecast loads, and reliability improvements.

Notes for Testers
1.0.38 31 July
What's New in v1.0.37 (TestFlight release notes)
Biggest update yet. New account tools, map fixes, and a fairer Founding Rider offer.
Forgot Password: added a new "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen. Enter your email and we send you a reset link that opens straight back into the app. Reset links expire in 60 minutes and are single-use.
Change Password: signed-in riders can now change their password from Profile > Change Password without logging out.
Founding Rider offer updated: now capped at 100 spots (down from 500) and grants 12 months of Elite membership. The Founding Rider badge stays permanent on your profile. Paywall shows a live counter of remaining spots.
Route planner "You are here": the Plan tab map now shows your current location as a pulsing blue dot when you open it. Drop your first waypoint (green pin) anywhere on the map — the blue dot is just for orientation.
Live map fix: fixed the bug that caused random black squares to appear on the ride tracking and planning maps. Default map is now the standard streets layer, which is far more reliable in remote areas. You can still switch to Terrain, Satellite or Dark using the layer button.
Better subscription errors: if a purchase button ever fails, you now get a clear, actionable error message instead of a generic technical error.
Quiz reliability: the Monthly Outback Quiz no longer shows a silent "coming soon" screen if the network hiccups. Retry button appears with a clear error message, and the back button is easier to tap.
Podcast player: the scrolling episode ticker now only shows on the Home screen so it no longer covers back buttons on other screens.
Community feed cleanup: legacy test-ride cards no longer appear on the Discover feed. All community-submitted routes must be approved by an admin before appearing publicly.
Admin tools (Auswide crew only): new Pending Adventures moderation queue and Comp Memberships management screen for granting free lifetime Elite to select riders.
Monthly quiz winner emails: winners are now automatically emailed a congratulations message from support@auswideadventures.com.au.
Unified membership: your subscription status is now consistent whether you joined via Apple or via the web.

Big reliability update — a heap of small fixes plus new account-recovery features.

Change password: signed-in users can now change their password from the Profile screen (Settings > Change Password) without needing to log out.
Live map fix: fixed the bug that caused random black squares to appear on the ride-tracking map. The default layer is now the standard streets map, which is far more reliable in remote areas. You can still switch to Terrain, Satellite or Dark using the layer button in the top-right of the map.
Founding Rider live counter: the paywall now shows a live "N of 500 taken" counter with a progress bar, and a "spots left" badge on the Founding Rider tier so riders can see how close it is to selling out.
Quiz reliability: the Monthly Outback Quiz no longer shows a silent "coming soon" if the network hiccups. Retry button appears with a clear error. Back button is bigger and easier to tap.
Podcast player: the scrolling episode ticker now only shows on the Home screen, so it no longer covers back buttons on other screens.
Unified membership: your subscription status is now consistent whether you joined via Apple or via the web (Stripe). No more mismatched badges.

Unified membership status: your subscription now works consistently whether you joined through Apple or through the web (Stripe).
Network requests automatically retry when signal drops in and out.

WHAT IS NEW
Plan a Route fullscreen map fix
The plus and minus zoom buttons on the fullscreen map have moved from the top-left corner to the bottom-left corner
The map layers button (satellite / terrain / roadmap toggle) has moved from the top-left to the bottom-right corner
The close X, Petrol, and Camp buttons in the top-right column now sit properly below the iPhone battery indicator and no longer visually jump when you toggle Petrol on or off
That is the only user-facing change in this build. Small but critical fix — the top-right column was hiding behind the iPhone battery percent on newer devices.
