Identify the species behind the grain.
Photograph a clean area of bare grain or end grain in good light. WoodLens suggests the likely species with a confidence indicator, and you can confirm or adjust the match manually. Profiles include common and botanical names, hardness, workability, grain, figure, colour, ageing and origin.

Use grain and colour context when comparing eucalyptus and other native timbers with imported species. Finish, weathering and close look-alikes can change the result, so each suggestion is a starting point for further checking.
Read furniture era and style cues.
Photograph a chair, cabinet or salvaged door to examine joinery, hardware, veneer and finish clues. WoodLens can suggest a likely era and style for research, without claiming authenticity.

IDENTIFICATION AND SAFETY NOTE
WoodLens is an educational identification and reference tool, not a structural or scientific authority. Finish, lighting, weathering and sample quality affect a photo match, and similar timbers are common. Never use the app alone for structural, load-bearing or safety-critical decisions. Wood dust and finishing chemicals can irritate or sensitise; use ventilation and suitable protection and follow each product's safety instructions.
PRIVACY
Your project log, history and preferences live on your device. There are no accounts, third-party trackers or advertising SDKs. With online recognition enabled, the photo is sent securely to our recognition service, is not retained after processing and is never used for advertising or tracking. SUBSCRIPTION
WoodLens Pro is an auto-renewing subscription offered weekly and annually. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. It renews for the same billing period and rate unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Promotional offers may appear, and charges vary by region.
