The app doesn’t seem to have moved on much since the last review from 2 years ago that I just read. In this day & age with Apple HomeKit enabled devices and the ‘Internet of Things’ I have come to expect a far more elegant and integrated solution. This could be a real selling point for Daikin but unfortunately it is the opposite. I recently upgraded my broadband supplier and was reminded of the pain that is setting up the WiFi component of this equipment. I gave up on the out of home option altogether. Again, other devices make this more or less a one-touch process! I don’t like to sound like an Apple salesperson, but that is my experience - and so many devices do this do much better and integrate with other devices such as temperature or humidity sensors. I’m happy with my Daikin units, but to have to use either the 1980s style remote control with indecipherable symbols and multiple button presses - or a ‘basic’ and to be honest, very slow to respond iPhone app is just plain disappointing.(Edit: June 2024)The app seems increasingly challenged to find my units, requiring multiple quitting of the app until they finally appear. This is very frustrating in a very hot or cold environment!If I had my time again, I would seriously consider another AC unit with superior mobile control. Daikin - are you listening?

Daikin prides themselves on quality product and good customer service however we were let down by their wifi adapter. Even though we live in Australia and bought the product in Australia they said because the wifi adapter was developed in Singapore they don’t have control on the updates or technical problems with the unit. When you are at home connected to the home wifi it works instantly however when you are out of home connected to 3G/4G or another wifi network there is a 3-5min delay. Daikin Australia explanation was apparently the signal/message is sent to servers overseas in Singapore which causes a slight delay. The main reason we got the wifi add on was to be able to control the unit when we were out of home and just like other wifi units google home and Alexa control the unit in REAL TIME. Our only option now is to look for another third party wifi units which works better and is more reliable than the original Daikin wifi adapter

I’ve just had the new R32 Daikin multi-head unit put in today (March 2020). (The remote control is very nice and modern looking now.)The app works very well on the Wifi LAN and was very easy to both pair with or WiFi using the WPS button method and to add each unit into my phone. It didn’t have all the features, but the main ones are there. If you need the others, get up of the couch, find the remote and set it.The controller apparently now works with IFTTT so you can use google/Alexa etc. I’ve not used that yet, but it was definitely a bonus point for me. Enabling the not at home Feature worked well. I liked that when I went to add the second head unit it asked if I wanted to copy the credentials of the first unit, I said yes and it worked well. Whilst it’s not awesome that it takes 5 mins or so when using the not at home Feature, it dies say in the app that it’s not instant. If you’re not at home,(whilst I can’t understand why it works that way and why it can’t be quicker) the delay doesn’t bother me much (yet at least). And if you want to turn it on when you’re so close by that it would matter, your at the end of the street driving home etc.... you shouldn’t be using your phone whilst driving anyway!All up it’s quite good and does pretty much what I was expecting and hoping it would do.

I really like Daikin so 4 stars is a bit much really.I wanted the Daikin App so we can monitor the use of a new Daikin aircon that we put in a rental share house that we pay the electricity bill for.Getting the wifi connection between phone and aircon wasn’t easy for me, I just seemed to get stuck with something like “ if step 2 doesn't work the go back to step 1”And around and around ,,,,I got the technicians to look at it and after a bit of effort they got it.But both them and me weren’t sure about being able to use the App away from the house. A few days later with help from a very helpful lady at the Daikin office we got the “Out of home,,, Away from Home”function working.Everything is easy once you know how “ : )The time delay between using the app and the aircon responding feels like forever if I sit and watch it.Actually between 3 and 5 minutes and sometimes much quicker But it does seem to be Reliable And it’s doing it’s job.One other downside is having to log in again after 10 or 20 minutes.Saving the login details and a bit of practice does help speed this process up.It would be nice if Daikin acknowledged all the reviews here, even if they just admitted its not their best work.I’m guessing they sell by far the majority of their Aircons without the App controller so it’s probably not a priority Could be Better
