How it works:
Healthspan*: A powerful way to quantify your age and slow your Pace of Aging. Backed by leading longevity research, it pinpoints the daily habits that impact your long-term health.
Sleep: WHOOP helps you understand how well you sleep each night by measuring your Sleep Performance. Every morning, WHOOP provides a Sleep score from 0 to 100%. Sleep Planner calculates how much sleep you need to recover, tailored to your habits, schedule, and goals. You can even set a Haptic Alarm that wakes when you're fully rested, or at a specific time, with gentle vibration. Quality sleep is essential for improving your healthspan, metabolic mental resilience, recovery, and performance.
Recovery: WHOOP lets you know how ready you are to perform by measuring your heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, and respiratory rate. You'll get a daily Recovery score on a scale of 1 to 99%. When you're in the green, you're ready for strain, when you're in the yellow or red, you may want to evaluate your training program.
Strain: WHOOP does more than just track your activity–it measures cardiovascular and muscular exertion to give you the most comprehensive view of the demands you put on your body. Each day, Strain Target will provide a Strain score from 0 to 21 and recommend your optimal target exertion range based on your Recovery score.
Stress: WHOOP gives you daily insights to pinpoint your stressors, understand your physiological response, and discover techniques to help manage. Get a real-time stress score from 0-3 and, based on your score, choose a breathwork session to enhance your alertness or increase relaxation.
Behaviors: WHOOP tracks over 160+ daily habits and behaviors—like alcohol intake, medication, and more—to better understand how these behaviors impact your body. WHOOP provides weekly guidance for behavior change and helps set accountability goals with the Journal and Weekly Plan features.
WHOOP Coach: Ask questions about your health & fitness and get highly personalized, on-demand answers. Using your unique biometric data, the latest performance science, and generative AI, WHOOP Coach generates responses on everything from training plans to why you’re feeling tired.
Menstrual Cycle Insights: Go beyond period tracking to better understand your fifth vital sign and get tailored cycle-based insights.
What else you can do in the WHOOP app:
• Dig into the details: See heart rate zones, VO₂ Max, steps, and more trends over time to adjust your behaviors, training, sleep and more based on your goals.
• Join a team: Stay motivated and accountable by joining a team. Chat directly with your teammates in the app, or as a coach, see how your team's training is going.
• Apple Health: WHOOP integrates with Apple's Health app to sync activities and personalize your experience.

Been using since Feb 2017, and it is simply amazing! Was considering all other choices at the time, including Apple watch, but the accuracy of this wearable seemed to be the best.Years on, the device has broke due to age and customer support have been super fast and amazing! For instance, was on a beach in Mykonos and the clasp bit broke - sent an email to customer support and when I returned home a replacement was there waiting. The app itself has evolved over the years, the interface is sleeker, a lot more features and best of all is it now also shows respiratory rate. The device itself has always been able to measure this - but whoop decided to show it in the app due to the link of ‘increasing respiratory rate shows a COVID-19 infection’. Go check this research out, it’s incredible - the amount of whoop users getting a COVID test as a result of whoop! Anyway, the app evolves with society and is simply the best friend you can have in life.
My honest review.

I accidentally paid for a year and stuck it out, so here’s what I can tell you about the WHOOP band. At first, I was extremely happy with it as I had been recommended it by family and friends and thought the sleep tracker was cool as I’d never experienced it. Then, I started to realise how inaccurate it actually is regarding steps, sleep and more. Steps wise, I wore the whoop and a different device that has accurate information for a night and found that whoop had added an additional 3000 steps while the other device read an additional 1000. The sleep tracking is mediocre at best and while I find it interesting to see how long I slept for the night, it would often get my sleep times wrong and record naps and sleeps or sleeps as naps, etc. along with that, when it tracks a physical activity, it will randomly come up with one such as golf ( most often for me but I have never played golf in my life). In all honesty, making People pay almost $400 a year for something you could pay $300 for once and get better analytics is honestly disgusting and just a scam for money. If you want to charge $400, you need to ENSURE everything is accurate and not just taking a guess. I kept my hand on 24/7 which if you do get the whoop I do not recommend as showers and sweat can make it smell and I would often get notifications of it saying my ban was off my body but it was definitely still there. Anyways, Don’t waste your time or money, get something like a Fitbit which is a one time cheaper payment for better quality.
Customer support is disappointing at best

I tried Whoop and a wearable just isn’t for me. I respect the annual subscription for the service they provide - if you are high performer then this could be a great option. The really disappointing aspect for me was the customer service. I decided not to proceed with the trial and was able to process the cancellation request through the app but then had to wait to receive the return label, which was NOT forthcoming after 4 days (still don’t have it)! Meanwhile this means there is less time to actually get the device back so you are not charged the full price! It is virtually impossible to get onto a human and the response time to the support email is woeful. If you have any problems with your device don’t expect a good turnaround.

Just on 12 days use-age, it’s failed to track sleep properly 4 times, not super impressed so far. I said I’d give it a few months but not looking good for renewal beyond that, 4 nights failed to record sleep at all for no reason. Needs an easily set countdown timer. Multiple simultaneous countdowns would be cool to. Needs a way better battery life. Journal needs improvement and should be able to be entered throughout the day.It should read data from the health app on iOS to get activity correct, and even cut a deal so it can read data from Myzone and Strava directly. Community section needs improvement it’s completely vague and useless to a new user. Should be way cheaper for such clunky interface and poor recording of data at this stage. Updated main screen is trash. Read your subreddit people care and have ideas, ask for feedback and offer free months for good tips.
