I love having an app that tells you when someone is calling you that it’s a scam but this app would even be a lot better if it could do the same with messages and emails. Scammers are trying everything to scam people and we need to be protected on all three services. If or when you can do that I will up grade 4 to 5 stars but I am gladly paying for your premium to catch these scammers out.

I’m in Australia - had this and subscribe for a few years for premium - have always hoped it would work but really can’t see in any situation where it has.For example, I get a dodgy call twice a day on average — Hiya is yet to identify a dodgy call as spam yet. After getting a spam call, In Enter it into the Hiya app and classify it (doing their work for them!) and the dodgy number suddenly shows as RED / Spam Alert!!! I know it’s hooking into the back end of the phone as it DOES seem to identify many legit numbers on the IPhone ring screen, and any legit numbers I classify as OK it will start to identify these in the iPhone ring screen … so it does access the iPhone call system OK; It just does not identify spam numbers - maybe not enough users in AU reporting spam calls for this to be a winner yet … Friends with Google phones have this feature for free - they can pay for upgraded features but the base system is free —- see these the databases are “crowd built” so you have to offer it for free to get the huge coverage a crowd app like this needs App makers are used to iPhone people always paying so they don’t offer a usable free version —- and I can’t find a cross platform caller ID system that have the depth of coverage a Google app has but also offers a iPhone app that *works* - Hiya is cross platform but clearly their Google base in AU is tiny too as it has very poor data on active spam numbers in AUAfraid I’ll be removing it now after really trying to believe it’ll one day show a incoming spam call as spam !

App has not blocked any calls or even given a warning about any calls in the several months I've had it installed. Today I tried seeing what would happen if I started manually adding spam numbers I've received. Adding a number just made the app hang for about 5 minutes before giving an error.But even if I could add my own numbers to the block list I don't really get the point of using this app here in Australia since it just doesn't seem to do anything. Why bother using the app if I need to manually block calls myself, after I've already gotten the calls? And the way spam calls work here, you only get a call from that single number once, before they rotate to a new number.

This is a simple easy way to protect yourself from not only the annoying, robotic calls, but from a lot of the scam calls as well. It’s a simple matter of placing you finger on the phone number on the message screen, when the menu drops down, select copy, then go to Hiya and repeat your finger touch, choose paste from the drop down menu and you’ll get a message indicating if it’s a robot, scam etc. I’m 80 and if I can do it, so can anyone.
