Classic example

So I’ve seen this pop up few days ago and the price tag that comes with it. I was pretty keen to support the team again since I loved the classic version so much, but decided I’d see what’s different. Well. A lot of the customising features are gone. You cannot decide what color your username will be, you cannot disable part and quit message spam anymore, the timestamps are either in the format [hh:mm:ss] or not there at all. You can’t shorten them down.

My hopes for this was you could select multiple lines for copy/paste.
Finally keep long term logs of chats.
Have more complex operator commands at your disposal with the chance to write custom messages for kick/bans or to be able to time limit them.

But none of this is yet available. Would love to see where this goes and I will be happy to foot the bill.

Developer Response ,

A lot of these things are actually available, maybe you missed them or maybe they've been added since you left this review.

You can hide join/part/quit, you can hide seconds in timestamps, and you can also choose the amount of messages per channel you want to save (however, keep in mind the more channels you have and the more messages you save may impact your startup time). Multi line copy/paste is in the todo list, and I'd like to hear more about the op commands. Send an email or hop into the support channel, that's basically how I've been deciding what to work on for the day.

The main goal of this new app was to have a nice foundation to start with unlike the previous app which was my first app I've ever made and was a nightmare to work on because of that. The old app also had way too many options that people didn't use, so this app stuck to the core settings that I knew people wanted, and figured I can easily add the others back as people ask.

As for your comment about the price, IRC itself is very niche with very few users, people using IRC on mobile is even less, and those people using iOS is even less because most IRC users are very open source oriented. Given that, I hope you can understand that at this price it just makes it possible for me to spend time on it, compared to before where I could barely buy myself a burger and shake every month from the revenue.
