We updated our AI and added a few small improvements including the ability to turn off the Chat animations and sounds if they get too much for you! We also fixed some issues that you have been complaining about!
Ratings and Reviews
Some great benefits but it’s not foolproof!
I really like this app as it helps enormously with conversations. However, sometimes in French the wording can be incorrect and the correction received in text form can contradict the actual AI. Also it insisted on ‘j’ai dite’rather than ‘j’ai dit’ explaining it was agreeing with the feminine subject. When I pointed out this error ‘he’ agreed with me. So some caution until it learns more!
Some bugs
I can only judge the French, Spanish and German modules. But the French module seems to have a problem with hyphens and other punctuation. After a hyphen, the word following is not vocalised. For example, the first sentence when you load French is “Salut! Qu’est-ce qui t’inspire?” But the “qu’” and the “ce” are not pronounced. Maybe it is the punctuation that confuses it. I haven’t seen this problem in Spanish or German (yet). This seems to be a fatal flaw. When asked “Comment vous appelez-vous?” the second “vous” is omitted by the voice. Please fix this as it is a serious problem in what is otherwise a good app. PS. Since writing this Fede has been helpful in suggesting changes to the iphone app to solve the French problem. So I am happy to continue supporting him, in the hope that an update will work better. The quick fix he suggested to me does not yet seem to have solved the problem, but apparently he is working on it, which I appreciate. I would strongly recommend that the app have some role playing for language learning. Having the bot ask you what are you doing today or what book you have been reading is a bit boring and commonplace. What about creating some interesting characters who talk to you about topics of your choice? Of course you could ask the bot to role play. But this maybe would have limitations.

I wanted to learn Mandarin with Notification off so that meant i couldn't get past the first few prompts
