An awesome option for Digital Magic!

Core gameplay is excellent and the digital format is more free-to-play friendly than printed versions, so if you want to enjoy magic, but don’t want to spend much, I encourage you to try it out.

Daily quests keep the game engaging and the in-game events are really fun. Particularly the ones that allow you to merge 2 random decks.

The only downside that I have encountered is performance when numerous effects are in place. At a certain point the game simply becomes impossible to interact with because of issues such as extremely low fps and lag, forcing you to concede and return to the menu. I’d hope this gets resolved in the future as it can be quite annoying, especially with the enormous amount of tokens that can be generated.

Another thing that could be improved upon is the UI interaction with some abilities and cards, for example Halvar. With this card you must still select an equipment and creature before you can choose to not use the ability. This type of interaction is very tedious and unnecessary. I’d appreciate if we could choose to bypass the abilities before having to choose targets first.

Overall a very enjoyable game and alternative to printed magic.

Turns take way too long

The app works fine on my iPad Pro 2019 model never crashed yet 500 plus games, the main downside i find is allowing each player a ridiculous amount of time and extra time saves between moves and then you get a lot of annoying players that do it on purpose to try force a quit. It would be great if they added a quick move option so people who know how to play can get on with it. Another thing about gameplay which ruins the game is when you have too many creatures out you can’t select the ones you want when playing multiple spells or abilities because when you slide sideways on the screen it doesn’t stay fixed as it jumps back to the main layout, this has cost me a lot of losses, don’t know why you can’t side scroll on battlefield and have it stay set to where you want or why you can’t zoom out to see all of battlefield. One last thing I think would make the game more enjoyable is if a flag icon was added next to the players name showing what country your opponent is playing in. It’s annoying playing someone with a foreign name and not knowing what country the language is from. At the end of the day I will keep playing this app because it’s mtg and it’s great fun and works out cheaper then collecting cards but it does need improvement.

Don’t bother on tablet

Get ready to have your tablet crash like it’s never crashed before. Do you like having to hard reset your device every 20 minutes, do you like having half the playability of pc players and a quarter of the aesthetic. Get ready for Magic! A game that can’t actually deliver on base promises, like still receiving daily rewards that you can’t legally use in the current rotation a month after announcing otherwise, it’s awesome. I spent 2 hours grinding to 15 wins to receive an illegal rare. Spend your money on cosmetics that will actively contribute to the memory drain on your device so you can crash every time a card is played. Like immersive audio? Well get stuffed, because the sound bites it plays during actions are going to brick your device as well! Welcome to hardcore strategy where everyone plays the same flipping cleric deck and you’ve got no choice but to follow suit because the sets have been cut down so heavily from the physical card sets there is literally 5 meta decks and that’s it! Welcome to Magic the gathering: Arena! Literally do not download, play it on PC, it’s soooo much better.
