Poor translation, poor security, bugs..

Very amateurish interface (including poor translations to English, and spelling mistakes like “Please connect the charing cable”). Always timing out on first attempt trying to get car status. “Find my car” often shows the car in a National Park interstate. Doesn’t connect remotely to car at all if vehicle not started for a few days. Feedback section can’t recognize autocomplete so repeats/garbles text while you’re typing (But developers don’t respond to it anyway so probably doesn’t matter?). No Multi Factor Authentication. No concurrent login on another device. Setting battery charging limit doesn’t do anything. Allows scheduling charge but not rate (8A, 16A etc) so has to be done in-car… Did I really see somewhere MG want to charge a subscription fee for this? Lucky the the car is very good because the app is terrible..

Buggy and now not working at all in Australia

The iSMART app worked well enough, if a little basically, for the first three weeks.
It then stopped allowing me to set the target recharge level of the battery. This would have been more serious if I’d bought the NMC battery versions of the MG4 but ours is LiFePO4 so charging to 100% isn’t an issue.
However on Thursday 21st 2024 the app stopped working completely Australia wide.
Possibly an issue with the Vodafone network which out uses in Australia but, as MG Motor Australia have been completely silent on this issue, who knows.

Annoyed MG customer

Brilliant car, useless app. Unless I am within 30 metres of my car, the app will not connect. And as for being in another suburb or state, even with full 5G coverage, forget it. The car could be stolen and I wouldn’t know until we get home!
I used to be able to adjust the amount of charge the battery will accept, however this stopped working on the app a few months ago.
The feedback section is pointless as well, when typing up a comment, my words are converted into pigeon English and when I am eventually able to submit a coherent message, no one responds so feedback obviously isn’t being read.
It is a shame because such a good car deserves an app that works, the current one should not be advertised as being available until it is fixed. All the features are great, they just don’t work with no connection to the car.
