Description
My Aurora Forecast is the best app for seeing the Northern Lights and Southern Lights. Built with a sleek dark design, it appeals to both tourists and serious aurora watchers by telling you what you want to know - whether that is exactly how likely you are to see the aurora borealis or details about the solar winds and high-resolution sun imagery. With this app, you'll be seeing the lights in no time.
- Find the current KP index and how likely you are to see the Northern and Southern Lights.
- View a list of the best locations to view from right now.
- Map showing how strong the aurora is around the world, based on the SWPC ovation auroral forecast.
- Free push notifications when auroral activity is expected to be high.
- Forecasts for the next hour, several hours and several weeks so you can plan your viewing long in advance (subject to weather conditions).
- Solar wind statistics and sun imagery.
- View live aurora webcams from around the world.
- Tour information so if you're considering to go to locations such as Iceland, Sweden, Finland or even Alaska or Canada, you'll be able to find tours that we can recommend to you.
- Support for the latest iPhone and iPad models.
- Completely free of charge for all functionality, no in-app purchases.

Ratings and Reviews
Don't forget to turn notifications ON in summer
In Australia, we don't get the summer midnight sun, so if you agree to let this app give you notifications when the KP forecast is high, make sure you disable the default option to turn off alerts in summer. I wondered why I missed out on the last aurora show and now I know! Good app by the way, easy to use, nice maps.
Love this app
Great app, especially the alerts. Not many apps cater for the Southern Lights. One thing I’ve realised. KP readings tend to be 1 point higher than the SWS KP readings, but there is a workaround..
Once I receive an alert I then quickly check the SWS site. Been doing this for a while and the 1 point difference between the app and SWS is consistent, so in taking that difference into account the app is still effective.
A light in the sky
Ever since I began thinking of the Aurora and dreaming of one day seeing it, this app has been a daily spark of joy, allowing me to tune into the slow, patient cycle of the magical lights. It’s like a private bank account and each time I open it, I deposit a little more hope against that future joy. It’s a great comfort in our present world.
