The solutions to climate change start with us. Build green habits today.

We get it: climate change can feel overwhelming. We all know that we should be doing more to address the climate crisis, but with information scattered everywhere, it’s hard to know where to start, which sources to trust, and most importantly, if the changes we make as individuals will *actually* have an impact.

That’s where we come in! Meet One Small Step: your personal sustainability coach. Using behavioural science, the One Small Step app makes it easy, simple & fun to make sustainable changes. Gain clarity on the environmental impact of your personal choices. Get curated step-by-step programs that are designed to be easy & achievable. Build eco-friendly habits to quickly shrink your carbon footprint.

Start by understanding the impact of your current lifestyle choices. Get a breakdown of your carbon footprint & see how you compare to the average Australian. You’ll receive a personalised sustainability roadmap to see how to reduce your carbon emissions down to the UN’s 2050 goal of 2 tonnes per year.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed by information, you’ll get step-by-step programs with trusted recommendations on sustainable products. For example, if your current superannuation fund invests in fossil fuels, we’ll recommend you a program to switch to a sustainable option. You’ll be guided every step of the way from comparing ethical funds, right through to making the switch & updating your employer with your fund details.

Stay motivated on your journey to net zero carbon emissions. Through our gamified programs and our habit tracking tool, you’ll build your confidence & skills to take control of your carbon footprint. Be rewarded for taking climate action & see your impact in real time. Our Teams feature helps you to achieve your sustainability goals & build your momentum by completing weekly challenges with your friends, family & workmates.

We tend to think that our individual choices don’t matter, but they do when we’re acting together. Our behaviour has a flow-on effect and will influence others to do the same. All it takes is One Small Step at a time.

"Making small changes doesn't require a lot of brain power but we tend to overthink things and worry they won't actually contribute to helping the big picture. In actual fact, those smaller actions can really build a sense of motivation and encourage people to be more mindful of what they're consuming and why."

“Our ultimate goal is to reduce the cognitive barriers that prevent people from sticking to green habits, something behavioural science research has only begun to understand in the past few years.”

Our mission is to help millions of people reduce their personal carbon footprints down to the UN’s 2050 goal of 2 tonnes of CO2e per person, per year.

The goal is to grow this community to 28 million members, the same number of users as FitBit. Even if our users only partially reduce their annual footprints by 6 tonnes each, together, that achieves the same carbon impact as closing down 40 coal-fired power stations.

It’s ambitious, and you can help achieve this. The more people who use the One Small Step app, the more insights we gain into how to more effectively support you to reduce your environmental impact. We’d love to get your feedback and input on what is working for you, and what isn’t in this version of the app. You can message us through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or by emailing us at

This app is so good! I’ve always been a bit overwhelmed with how to start making some positive environmental changes or doubted that they would have a major impact but this app made it so easy to start and shows how your changes impact the environment. Thanks to this app I now know how to reuse my scraps so I’ve minimised my waste, I fix clothes rather then chuck them, and probably biggest of all I’ve changed my bank and super over to ethical ones and it was so easy. I can’t wait to keep using it and find out other awesome ways I can easily make a positive impact and change. Thanks team!

So fun and easy to use!

I’ve always found it hard to start the conversation about sustainability with my family, but starting this experience with a quiz and doing this together was actually really fun! Having simple, easy to follow steps with all the info after is helping us all work towards becoming better global citizens. I especially have enjoyed the turning food scrap into stock program and the finance information. Thank you team!

So excited to start this journey

I consider myself very environmentally-aware but like everyone I know I can do more. At first glance these programs look like they’ll hold my hand through exactly the things I keep putting off (finally changing my bank from the stupid Dollarmite account I got at primary school!) and I really like the idea of knowing there’s a group of us doing this stuff at the same time. Great stuff!
