Old dog, new tricks 😀

I snorkeled constantly when I was a young guy but then got so busy working and raising children that a couple never find the time.
Now I’m in the Maldives for a week and finally rekindling my love for diving. At age 59, I’m getting my dive ticket and, with the aide of PADI and my amazing instructors at Velassaru, I’m doing it. OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS 👊🏼♥️👊🏼

Poor app

Initiallly I was very happy with this app. I love that I can have my digital dive card on my device.

I’ve decided to convert my previous dives from paper to digital. I’ve only logged 30 previous dives and the app is so slow it’s barely functional. The logbook is not stored on the device so every time you open the app you need internet access or you can’t use the logbook. After I added 10 or 15 dives the dive log input became soo slow it literally took minutes and minutes to log every dive. Now, with 30 dives logged I can open the app, access the logbook, but I can’t view any of my dives without having lunch while I’m waiting for the app to load my dives. I’m using the current iPhone 13 pro with Telstra mobile data, so it’s not phone or internet speed.

I really can’t fathom why PADI aren’t using a locally stored with iCloud backup storage system instead. The current format of this logbook is pathetic. A locally stored with iCloud/Dropbox/Google drive backup storage system would make this app run faster. I thought that I’d use my 3 hour flight to log all my previous dives but found that you can’t do anything with the app at all without internet.

A very poor app PADI. I’ll be deleting my logbook and using this app solely for Dive card storage.

It’s terrible

I’m finding it super hard to log your training dives. I have completed a number of training dives which I would like to log on the app. Only the open water training dives show up and you can’t select the advanced nor the specialist training options so you can’t log them. After creating a recreational log, if you accidentally hit the ‘log dive’ button more than once, it will create a number duplicates dives but the page won’t refresh so you end up with a bunch of identical dive logs. Your total dive time will not update either. In regards to ECards. Why can’t you just save a viewable PDF file on your phone when you click download?

Developer Response ,

I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with logging your dives. Please note that currently Open Water is the only option available for Training dives. If you have any questions regarding this or need any assistance with duplicate logs please feel free to contact us directly at webmaster@padi.com and we would be happy to help! Thank you so much in advance for the opportunity to assist.
