Description
The iPhone 12 (and variants) is now compatible with the Pantone Color Match Card!
The essential Pantone Color iOS app for designers and color experts! Pantone Connect streamlines the color inspiration to design process, making it easy for you to measure and match physical materials to Pantone Color, share your inspirational color palettes to social media, and navigate any updated Pantone Color System to find the perfect hue while on the go.
When paired with the Color Match Card from Pantone, the app calibrates your iOS device's camera for color measurement, and captured colors are quickly matched to their nearest Pantone Color more accurately than extracting color from a photo. Be sure to check that your iOS device is compatible with Color Match Card before you order one. While most device models are compatible, we are still in the process of adding some iOS devices to our list.
The app is part of the new Pantone Connect digital color platform for mobile, web, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Extension), meaning colors discovered while on the go can be easily applied to design files when you're back in your studio.
The following features will remain free for everyone on mobile and web:
- All Pantone Colors, always up to date
- sRGB and Hex values for all colors
- Measurement with the Pantone Color Match Card
- Color extraction from images
- Palette+image sharing to social media
- Color library search, navigation, sorting, and filtering
- Pantone system cross referencing (X-Ref)
- Trending color palettes from Pantone
Premium features for mobile and tablet are also currently free to use, and will include:
- CMYK and L*a*b* values for all colors
- Convert to Pantone from sRGB, Hex, L*a*b*, and CMYK values
- Saving more than 1 palettes and team palette collaboration
- Nuance color to nearby hues
- Color harmonies
Accounts:
Currently, Pantone Connect is completely free to use, including all Premium features, while we actively develop and improve this platform. Free accounts can be created in-app. Premium accounts can be activated on Pantone's website.
Other Pantone App Compatibility:
Pantone Connect accounts do not work with the Pantone Studio for iOS app or vice versa, and users who pay for Pantone Studio access will not receive access to Pantone Connect.

Ratings and Reviews
Not accurate
I bought the Pantone card and this hoping to assess the colour of dyed wool sweaters and the resulting matches are extremely inaccurate, not even slightly correct. It seems to err on the side of the much darker option.
This may be a result of the camera phone and associated attempt to calibrate. It may be that this is unsuitable for a surface such as a tightly knit wool sweater. I tried numerous samples and in all cases the assessment of the darker colours (like a navy blue) were closer matches to the actual compared to lighter colours, which were not even close.
I gave this as much as 3 stars because this may be an error with textured surfaces. My rating would be 1 star otherwise as this is too inaccurate to serve a meaningful purpose.
Buggy & Incomplete
Why release a product that appears to still be in development? No mention of the fact this is a pre-release product, broken link when I click to purchase the Color match card - no-one I’ve spoken to even knows what that is.
Plenty of potential but not market ready yet - also no clear definition of what the differences are between Pantone Connect and Pantone Studio, there seems to be a fair bit of overlap (and why need two separate accounts?).

Hi E747, thanks for your review! You're spot on that we are still actively developing the app, and live feedback is helping us to prioritize as we finalize it. The broken link should be fixed now, but we'll double check for your region. Regarding Pantone Studio vs Pantone Connect, whereas Studio is the Inspiration app, Connect is a platform for color problem solving. Thus, Connect has built in measurement and accessibility via web and Adobe Extension, with a lot more coming. We'll have more to say when we launch in the near future. DOESNT WORK ON NEWEST IPHONE
I have the newest iPhone 2022 model and it says not compatible when I tried to use the colour match card that I recently purchased to use with this app. I literally waited until buying a new phone to purchase the colour match card (because my old phone was not supported) and now can’t use it with the brand new 2022 iPhone. Cool. Update your software please!
