Excellent app for the paperpile reference manager

Pros:
- Easy to access and annotate hundreds of papers on your device, with annotations shared between desktop and mobile device.
- Responsive pdf viewer and annotation functionality.
- Adding papers and downloading PDFs is easy to do and well implemented.
- Allows for use of institutional proxies for automatic PDF downloads.
- If you use paperpile already the app is free which is honestly a fantastic value addition to an already great reference manager.

Cons:
- It does require the chrome extension and a desktop browser to cite while writing and format citations in a document.
- Subscription is necessary after the 30-day free trial.

Overall a pretty great app that does (almost) everything I need.

One small-ish feature request:
The ability to export the library to a bibtex file and copy bibtex citation keys from the app (like you can in the chrome extension) would be amazing and would let people work entirely on their iPad using a latex app or browser-based compiler.

Developer Response ,

Top notch app, great for MacBook & iPad

I started using mendeley recently going into residency as suggested by a peer; soon I find it frustrating that it does not integrate to the iPad and the web finder is often slow. I stumbled onto this app and I’m so impressed. I know have all the journal articles that I want to read in one place, and I could easily switch between my MacBook and iPad
