Poor design and bug fixes needed
The ebook app is designed poorly and can sometimes be frustrating to navigate. The app takes a few seconds just to load each page which is unacceptable since the book is already meant to be downloaded to your device meaning it should not take time to load each page. Constantly crashes about every 30 seconds ,the screen turns black before the app closes down. Have not found a way to fix these issues. It would seem the latest update would fix this but the problem still occurs. It would seem they would fix this issue as it makes the app unusable for more than 30 seconds.
Overall I am not impressed and the app needs urgent care,
But unfortunately this is only app I can use to Download my ebooks so until these problems are solved I have to put up with this very poor app.
DOESN’T SUPPORT VOICEOVER. Slow. Unresponsive. Crashes to black screen. No pencil support.
I’d be better scanning a copy of the paper textbook, OCR-ing it, and saving a PDF. I’d get more functionality.
There’s only one reason for this app to exist, which is digital rights management (DRM). There are plenty of existing apps that could do a better job than this one, but instead Pearson only allows their textbooks to be used through this DRM-first, built-down-to-a-lowest-cost thing.
I don’t even begrudge Pearson wanting to a) make money off their textbooks, and b) feeling a need to lock them down.
What I find infuriating is that the learner is NOT the focus of this (only way to access the electronic version of the textbook) - this is a transparent box-ticking app (“see, e-textbook, tick”) that omits basic features and is buggy.
Icing on the cake - the app DOES NOT SUPPORT ACCESSIBILITY features such as VoiceOver.
As a medium sized additional issue - the app doesn’t support any Pencil note-taking. Sigh.
Good but one thing missing
Hey Reader plus the app Is really good but it does take a little time to load other than that it is good but the one thing that is missing and what really bothers me is the pen that you can draw with is missing I do not like that the reason I am so annoyed by that is that it is a great tool to work out some problems for the work and I can draw around the work that I need to complete for homework and it is also just great fun to write with and draw cool and weird pictures with I am wondering if you can put it back on reader plus thanks for your time
Kind regards Brooke Appleton (aka need that pen person)
