Works great with a morning coffee, works great as a real brain workout. The puzzles are difficult, but achievable with practice. The perfect everyday game

I understand subscriptions ensure guaranteed income, but I would happily pay a steeper once-off fee than an ongoing subscription

One free puzzle and now it just keeps asking me to pay the subscription to continue playing. No thanks. The puzzles are challenging but I have another free app for something similar, with a better dictionary, nicer graphics, the ability to have hints for all words (not just the big one), and to go back and keep playing old puzzles. This one does far less and requires a subscription to keep playing. Just make it a once-off payment instead!

We spend about an hour each day carefully making the next day's puzzle. Writing fun facts and definitions, choosing what to keep and exclude, researching words, and sharing our finds in the stories we write for the words you discover in the daily puzzle. We think we have the best dictionary, and the best puzzles. Nothing about them is randomly generated, and we make sure to tailor them to special events (Valentine's day, coming up!). 

It wouldn't be feasible to charge a once-off payment for Retrogram when we work on our daily puzzle every single day. We hope you can understand, and sorry for your frustration!

Have been thoroughly enjoying this surprisingly challenging puzzle game. A great way to keep my mind sharp. The subscription model for the daily word puzzles is very reasonably priced in my opinion, particularly as it includes a 7-day trial.
