Ria Money Transfer: Send Money 4+

Trying to change your details with “customer service “ should be an easy task, it is anything but. Continuously being told they can’t help “just use the app” but changing a phone number is impossible when the link they send is sent to a number you no longer use.
No help
No cooperation
And no care.
If you use this DO NOT change your details because, as I was told “ you must close down your account and start a new one which is also impossible as you will also need a new email account as you can’t use the same one for two seperate accounts.
Unbelievable.

I used the app for my first transfer with Ria, to a recipient’s bank account. After 9 days, there was no sign of the money being deposited and no explanation or keeping in touch as to what the problem was. Customer support via chat or phone number seems intentionally hard to locate in the app. The information in the app says transfers from a debit card to a bank account take no more than 4 business days. After waiting 9 days (6 business days) with no deposit made I used the chat to try and get an explanation but all I could get were polite platitudes from their customer service training scripts but no real explanation why the bank wasn’t depositing my funds. The lack of effective communication between the bank, Ria and me in the context of an excessively long wait made me very anxious, so I cancelled the transfer. It’s now day 10 as I write this review and the refund process starts now. If the bank doesn’t send cancellation confirmation to Ria, no refund is possible. Overall if I receive my refund in 4 days it will be more than 14 days totally wasted with no transfer made and back to square one. This is therefore not so much a critique of the app but rather the experience I had on my first attempt to send a transfer with Ria via deposit to recipient’s bank account. I would not recommend this method but maybe it depends on the efficiency of the bank.

I always use transferwise/wise, Remitly or other app to transfer money from Australia to overseas. I decided to try Ria for first time. Using the app was easy, I made the first transfer and they said the money was received in less than two days. This became a headache. My sister never received the money, and still after two months requesting the refund, sending them bank statements of my sister and myself and they did nothing but excuses. They couldn’t proof me the bank received the money and the kept saying “we are waiting for bank proof”. Today I have decided to give up because by the grace of God it wasn’t too much money I’ve lost. But be careful because according with RIA’s policies they do not refund the money if something like this happens.
